Florida Man

Post by Ry Manchu »

Even though by the grace of God, I was born in Texas, I have lived in Florida since I was ten. Most of the Florida Man stories do not shock me. Most of the Florida Man stories are not funny to me like the guy that bit the other guys face off. There was no bath salts involved. But they banned bath salts anyway, not that I care. Just another play from Harry Anslinger's playbook. But this story dropped my jaw and it happened about 2 miles from where I live.

Man pays $150 for the "full contact experience" to get in the cage and rub the Panther's belly at a backyard big cat petting zoo and it didn't end well for him.

For a moment, I thought this was going to be a review of Cigar City’s beer by the same name. This does not shock me in the least. I grew up in the era of Florida Man, so nothing about Florida surprises me anymore.

It's legal for him to have the animals - it's NOT legal for him to let (charge) people jump in the cage with them. He received a few hefty fines.

Michael Poggi, the owner, has been previously fined. He was issued two misdemeanor citations. He was not fined this time. The Civil suit, will probably be expensive though.
