Zappa Gear Book

Post by ajaxlepinski »

Just spotted this book on Amazon last week and it arrived today. I did a quick, flip through and it looks pretty freaking cool!!!
I was a big Zappa fan back in high school... loved his stuff from the Mothers through Zoot Allures.

That looks cool, I’m a casual fan on his, love Shut-up and play your guitar trilogy as well as overnight sensation & apostophe, required listening imo for anyone who considers themselves a student of music\guitar. Anyway, cool book, nice score.

It's kind of neat. Just started reading it.

They describe the manufacturing history of each piece of gear and they let you know which recordings the gear was used on. Lots of pics.
It also has a bunch of Zappa history that I haven't read in other books.
Light, but interesting reading.

back in the early 80's we used to have Sheik Yerbouti and Joe's Garage on regular rotation.
Still will put on Joe's Garage sometimes on youtubing/drinking evenings.

oh - SARAN WRAP!!
probably extra applicable in today's mask climate

Edit - sorry - the Fugs, not Zappa - still reminded me of that song though........
