Damnit, the app farted on me after I proudly was able to identify Thundercat. Don't ask me why I know him. He played for Mac Miller. Don't ask me why I know Mac Miller. I dunno, from what little I've seen, I think Thundercat's got MASSIVE groove.

I actually have the privilege to sometime jam with one of the top funk bass players in Houston, and I have to say it makes all the difference in the world to me. All other bassist are kinda lame in comparison. I’m not saying slapping is the end all, but if you call yourself a bassist and don’t incorporate any elements of slapping in your style, then you’re just a straight up bitch lol.

Rant over.

When I was in high school, we were all talking about starting a band when none of us had instruments let alone knew how to play any of 'em. Jon was sorta the loser in our bunch, so it was "Jon'll play the bass. No one can hear the bass anyway."

I mostly agree , all players should embrace techniques and even invent your own . Thank you Larry Graham . but it's not a requirement to be a bad ass , there are a few who are funky without the slappy . Rocco Prestia or Bobby Vega .. fyi Bobby is probably the baddest mofo around

Like who? Now Jaco wasn’t much of a slapper, but he’s Jaco, so he gets a pass lol, but then again he’s not a classic funk bassist.
