Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
How is this answerable?
Do we need to have owned them?
Anyway... "Best"... dammit. Impossible.
My favorites have all been shockingly affordable for the most part. I've owned close to 300 guitars in my life lol including some PRS private stocks and CS LPs, and I've hung on to the ones that just pull music out of me.
On those merits:
-Ibanez S Series Iron Label: paid $400 for it and it's been my #1 for a couple years.
-Martin X Series Cheapo acoustic: Paid $300 for it, and my Taylors collect dust.
-Dark Matter AN7 7 string: The absolute meanest, nastiest breakdown machine I own.

I have strong impressions from a guitar that was made by a non-favored brand. Therefore, I must plead the fifth.

My '72 SG was the best... until, I wore the frets out and had them leveled. I need new frets!!!

For playability alone my Jackson Soloist is unbeatable. Most comfortable neck with the lowest action I've ever played.
For tone, my Les Paul Classic is my all time favorite.

Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
The best guitar I ever owned was a 91 LP Classic Gold Bullion. When I think of the best guitar I ever played, I think of a late 50's LP Junior I played at Norm's Rare Guitars. I can't say for sure it was the best but it was definitely one of the best.
Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
A Froggy Bottom.
Can't remember the model.
Got a kick out of playing this one '52 tele a couple times.

I love all the Pittmans I've had the privledge of getting near. Impeccable fretwork, unbelievable finishes.
However, Paul's (now Itchy's) '61(?) Les Paul / SG Jr is, by far, the best guitar I've ever played - in terms of feel, age/cool-factor, tone, and wood (meaning, I got wood) from playing something that close to Iommi's Monkey.

Best *playing* guitar for me was a 90's Parker Fly Deluxe. Never before or since have I played another guitar that felt so good and so easy to play. The action, string tension, slickness of the frets.....perfection.
My Cali and Dark Matter are my favorite guitars I've ever owned; they are both pretty much perfect for me (and both very similar to each other in terms of tone and neck feel)
The Bauer I have is also incredible to me but being a longboi it's a bit different

Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
i'm gonna say probably a steinberger gr4 or maybe an early parker.
the steinberger REALLY sticks with me as being one of the most weirdly stable, accurate, fucking hideously ugly and unplayable-because-i'm-not-that-much-of-a-dork-kind-of-instruments ever.
if i could never be seen with it, i'd probably play it.
the parker was similar in a lotta ways, but gah.. horrid lines.
i'd also have to say that a late 80s shit brown mahogany PRS dual humbucker guit i almost bought in 1993 was pretty up there too. that thing was FUN and just screamed right into singing feedback with a big flat fretboard i loved. i've never seen one since... it basically looked like a mid 70's sg, except... well... it was a PRS. i just couldn't do it, even then. it still made me feel like a lawyer, and it was probably 700 bucks at the time? (a kings ransom- at least for me- in 1993)..

Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
The early 60’s Strats I’ve played were way up there. As far as lefties go, my Rgasm is probably the nicest one I’ve played.
Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
Acoustic: Fender Spring Hill dreadnought from the early '90s. They didn't make them very long and that's a pity.
Bass: Dingwal ABZ5. It is one of their lower end instruments but I have never played anything that felt and sounded so right. Still sad I had to sell it.
Electric: Ernie Ball Majesty. They look much better in person than they do in the ads and, damn, the thing basically played itself.

Re: What is the best guitar you have ever played
While I wouldn't say that's the BEST guitar I've ever played it's by far definitely one of my all time favorites and I wish that one day Greg would send me a message saying he thinks I'm just the coolest dude ever and wants to gift me it.... I would also settle for a combo of Greg saying he'll sell me it and me having the money to pay him what it's worth lol
All that being said.... probably the best playing guitar I've ever played is my Ernie Ball Stingray, is it the best sounding.... maybe??? I can't put my head on a block for best sounding guitar ever since I've never played a unicorn guitar that could do all the tones I'd ever want, I'd say the closest I've got to that is my Les Paul with P90s BUT even that has it's limits...

Marc, you are the coolest dude ever. Hands down the BEST voice I've ever heard.
While I won't be sending the Pittman to the Carribbean any time soon, rest assured you would be the first person to know if it ever goes up for sale.
