"These people" are many with various purposes and agendas, often unconsciously supporting trojan horse operations deployed by all the bad actors playing in the sandbox. But not all of them are unwitting pawns and some are emitting signal within all the noise and working to achieve laudable goals. Shame that it's being drowned out to the degree that it is, and few people in our sense-making institutions are willing to parse that out for people in any useful way. Most of the time it's just additional signal over the noise and a gated narrative to serve the interests of the corporate establishment.

You may have to confront that we are dealing with the bill coming due on your generation's failures to properly steward our democracy into the future. The kids aren't alright Pepi.

If the 8 companies (last time I checked) that own 80+% of the media institutions (which are owned by banks and the military industrial complex) can keep your opinion segmented off and branded according to the gated narrative they've developed, then you will take action and share ideas while wearing a team jersey and show up to all the games to do the wave, buying the hotdogs and peanuts.

On the surface it seems like rioting and looting and the destruction of storefront properties would be a blow to corporate interests, but no. The actual collateral damage is to the small business owner who doesn't have the insurance, the insurance lawyer, or the capital to restart promptly after riots. Who do you think will move into the majority of those vacated businesses? The proverbial amazon et al.

If you look at the major corporate bailouts (passed first), look at the SBA loans and how that was also gamed not in favor of small businesses, and then look at the lack of similar support to working class citizens ($1,200..... ) it's not hard to see who stands to come out the winners of all of this. These riots and lockdowns will absolutely lead to a reduction in small business ownership. What's worse is that they could fuse into a feedback loop, and with rising COVID cases over the past couple of weeks... it's not hard to imagine.

I don't think what I wrote highlights the politics much, aside from all of it pointing in a common direction. I'm not interested in commenting on which team bunted the ball or stole home plate, cause they're both playing the same game in the same stadium as far as I can tell.

The problem in always shying from discussion like this on a discussion board is that since every issue in our day-to-day lives is being playdough fun factoried into a political shape, eventually very little can be discussed as it will rub against politics.
