Not to mention the unemployment . They should have just paid everyone's bills like some other countries are doing . It seems like a huge money grab going in all the wrong pockets . From the top down it's been shameful and disgusting . Not a damn thing we can do about it .

Wow thats heartbreaking to hear Indy, sorry for the loss a family man and veteran who served :heartbr:

Sadly we hear many cases like this with the virus ESPECIALLY with elderly people who are basically "stuck" in some extended care type facilities, they are hands down the biggest victims (by the numbers) of this. NY state just had a big issue with this recently, but on the bright side the Javits center that was for extra beds was closed up, the aircraft carrier for extra hospital beds was NOT needed and the ventilators dont seem to be a issue anymore - so there has been good news

From day 1, the information has been ALL OVER THE PLACE on this virus --- from the W.H.O. said it wasnt a danger in January, the Feds/Dr Fauci made mistakes, NY City officials/health office were underestimating it, to people on TV saying it was no issue to USA, told facemasks not needed then more info was discovered and we found out it lives on surfaces longer than thought, etc, etc, etc...

There was some analysis that some of the covid reported deaths also had the Flu/Heart health issues, etc and the death was reported as covid when there were other factors as well for the deaths and remember all the people who may gave had the virus and its never reported, um sure there are many who are not counted in the numbers

IndyWS6 wrote:Here's scary...

My girlfriend's father (87 years old) died unexpectedly Saturday morning. He was walking through the dining room and fell flat Friday afternoon, but was conscious and alert when the paramedics arrived. He disclosed that he had been having a little chest discomfort the previous two days (unknown to everyone), but nothing severe. They took him to the hospital and, because of Coronavirus, we couldn't go. At the hospital, blood work indicated that he was having a heart attack and they were preparing to lifeline him to a heart hospital. A few hours later, the update said that they determined it was not a heart issue and that he had pulmonary embolism(s). Basically, blood clots had moved through his heart, which is why the blood work indicated a heart attack, but he survived it and they were in his lungs. They gave meds to break them up and prevent others and he was much improved. He had a good night on Friday, all things considered. Saturday morning, he was sore, but coherent and lucid and asking for a "real" breakfast. They ordered one and a few minutes later, another clot went through his heart. He did not survive. My GF had to give permission over the phone for them to stop resuscitation efforts.

He had a few issues, but nothing that would have made one expect the end was near. He had no signs of COVID and I had been going to the store and running errands to keep him and his wife (92 YO) safely in the house. He did venture out (masked) a couple of times to my dismay, but seemed healthy for a nearly 90 year old person. Now, the reports that document people that don't present with the typical/obvious COVID symptoms but suddenly die due to complications from blood clots are front and center. I don't know if that's what happened, but it damn sure makes you wonder. I am not "blood" family, so I can't make the request, but I have asked the GF to check with the hospital to see if they tested for COVID. If nothing else, we need to know so we can take the proper precautions. The funeral is Thursday with a strictly-limited number of people allowed. We need to understand how to ensure their safety.

What a shitty way to bury a Korean War veteran with a 45 year work history that loved his family. This blows...

Condolences to everyone involved, Indy.

My singer's father died of the virus, while in a nursing home, a few weeks ago. He was 90.
The man was a WWII vet and was in the cement business all his life... he looked more mafia than anyone on the Sopranos.
They were only allowed to have 10 people at the funeral home, no one was allowed inside - they had a brief service on the sidewalk, outside the funeral home.
The sidewalk service was followed by, a motorcade ride to the cemetery.

CA started rolling out it's phased reopening last Friday. My company falls under it so we've started bringing people back over this week to get things from idle into 1st gear. The SBA PPP loans for small businesses have some pretty difficult parameters to work within in order for it to qualify as forgivable. We are currently working on figuring out how we can ensure that we can make sure it is.

It's been a really really wild ride for me from an HR perspective and it's nowhere near over.

Corporate takeover and money grab in typical bipartisan fashion. Great job "leaders".

Can we get a second third and fourth party now? I think re-election would split the losing side in two, and I think that might be a necessary thing and healthy in the long term. It was made very clear that the status quo has it's death grip wrapped tight around a past era. Leaving policy in the hands of elite septuagenarians is getting really fucking old.

And now the Scammers in WA State that have stole your info and applying for Unemployment. Received my letter yesterday for an unemployment filing yet I never filed? I had to file a Police report, contact WA State Employment Security Dept, Contacted the IRS to set up an acct, contacted Experian to put a credit alert on my accts also to be forwarded to the other big 2 credit agencies. What a pain. A crisis always brings out the worse in people. More info here on what we are dealing with-- hope you do not have to go through the same thing. :idk:

you want to create a My Social account too https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/?gclid=Cj ... UMEALw_wcB
that is the big thing you will lock up , no one will ever be able to draw a social security check or disability thing on your account once you create that . I think you may want to get a IRS PIN also , only you will have the PIN and it will be needed to file your taxes .

+1. Set up accounts with the IRS and SSI and check it constantly. That's one of the best ways to ensure your information doesn't get used by other.

The hardest of all this is the disconnect from loved ones, when one has to be admitted to the hospital, and even worse with the limited funeral. I couldn’t imagine having to go through that, and I’m sorry to hear about it happening to you guys :(

I am very curious as to what we’ll think about all this in 10 years or so.

There is little to no transmission of SARS-CoV-2, or at least no current known confirmed case, from an infected child to an adult. Additionally, the mortality rate for children is practically zero.

Nobody was certain what to expect up front. And now that we have a little actual data on what to expect with children, we're starting to see some weird secondary shit happening to them. Like this inflammatory Syndrome.

I'm saying.
One of my close friends had a similar story to the one posted earlier in thread.
Her grandfather died alone in the hospital. No one could see him including his wife of over 60 years.
I assume services will not be held.

This part of it is hands down the most heartbreaking part of all this.

I'm (sarcastically) loving this whole inflammatory disease thing that people are citing to continue justifying policy that does not stand the test of data and reason. From the article itself...

"To date, most children affected have done well. Treatments have included anticoagulation, IV immunoglobulin, IL-1 or IL-6 blockade, and corticosteroids. Some children have only needed supportive care."

"Of note, not all children with this inflammatory syndrome tested positive for COVID-19. PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2 was often negative, and tests for antibodies were sometimes but not always positive."

So a barely correlative mystery syndrome emerges with positive prognosis and we're led to believe we need to protect the children from it by remaining the lockdown. Ok. I guess that's what we're doing here.
