PSA: The Human Project - Fast Loud Melodic Punk

Post by K-Bizzle »

With thier newest album this band crossed the threshold for me into becoming one of my favorite bands ever.
They do what I've attempted to do for years with music about 100X better than I ever have. :rawk: :rawk:

Fast and aggressive yet melodic and catchy. Great tone that perfectly fits the songs and harmonies (both guitar and vocals) all over the place.
Somehow they walk a lot of different lines all at once and it just fucking works.

So yeah I highly recommend checking out their album Clarion Call and just hitting play and strapping in for the ride.

If you just want a taste heres my favorite track off the record.

If you dig that and the rest of the record also check out their back catalog, while I think the got the formula nailed on Clarion the previous records are also great in their own right.

EDIT
Fixed broked youtube link, thanks Billy!

Wow. That tickled me in all the right spots. Damn fine music, and the vocals surprised the shit out of me after that intro of vicious harmonized runs. This is definitely going on the list.

It's an interesting fusion of multiple modern elements. The late 90's California drawl on punk vocals (major component of pop punk) was never something that I cared for though, so I can't really get with this.

Thats a great way to put it for me as well. Even though its not super new this record has been getting nonstop spins lately, especially during workouts.
The only other bands that hit the same vibes in ways as satisfying as these guys for me are Propagandhi and A Wilhelm Scream.

What do you mean exactly?
Maybe I've been listening to punk from California for too long and I just don't hear it anymore.

Damn, so not what I would normally listen to but I really enjoyed that track. I may check out the rest of the album. Thanks for sharing that one.

the vocals are so not punk and the autotune should be a crime . lets back up to 1992 and Helmet and start from there to see where pop went "punk " :cop: took a wrong turn at the fork yo :sarge:

Meh I was in the second grade in 1992. My first intro to pop punk came via Green Day in 94.
Different strokes for different age groups.

Edit:
Also what autotune?
I'm sure theres pitch correction, who doesn't use this now? Especially when like 60% of the vocals are harmonized between the lead singer and the bass player, they do this live quite well from the vids I've seen.

Check out their previous albums too. Definitely more raw/less polished for better or worse depending on your perspective. I'm at a point where Clarion Call is pretty much perfection for what I like.

Glad you dig it man.

There may be pitch correction, may not. But there's a tiny bit of warble in some of the harmonies that some people will automatically think must mean autotune, even though that warble is super easy to achieve by doubling or just slightly wavering on your harmony. No autotune required.

Alternatively, he's a bass player. WTF does he know about tuning?
