You are an insane razor collecting mofo. Why no Vector tho? I figured if you were gonna go AC you'd go Blackland...

Think I'm gonna do a week with the BB and then a week with the Dart and see which I like better.

Interesting one today.
Goodfella’s smile soap. Awesome. Really good.
Phoenix red planet was pretty great. Nice powdery barbershop scent. It’s strong and the wife didn’t complain yet.
Razorock mj90 - this was my daily driver for a while. I got a pretty good shave, but I just felt like I was buffing way too much. The handle is awesome. But I might put the head in the storage box.
Love my new brush.
9/10 because I should have used a Sabre or a blackbird.

Nice man, thinking about a Maggard's SHD for my other GB. Is it the same as the one in your Dogwood, just bigger?

They’re supposed to be the same, but the 30mm in the gb seems a tad softer. They’re both awesome.

I advise you to measure the hole on the handle and send brad Maggard an email. The knot diameters differ enough that it’s worth having him pick one out for you.

The shd is 100% worth it.

SOTD: Got weird with it today:
Image

Now that I have a nice lather bowl, I feel compelled to use it. Since I feel it adds a step to soap, I decided I have a bunch of creams that need to be used. First time with Fine Cream.
Scent = outstanding. It's too intense for me to wear as an aftershave, but it's perfect for the shave itself.
lather = not the easiest to lather. possibly a deal breaker. We'll see. I feel like it put me at the latter end of my normal time range.
shave = fine. post shave = fine.
Sabre felt kind of tuggy today. I think it was a dud blade. It's not out of the realm of the way a bad gem feels, so I'm not blaming the razor.
brush = awesome.
aftershave = awesome. This is a great performer and a great scent. I think I don't use it very often because it just barely doesn't fit in my medicine cabinet.

Noice, I need to try some of the Fine stuff for soap/cream. I love their aftershaves.

4 days in preparation for Blackbird shave, out for delivery today. Can’t fuckin wait, I feel like a scruffy bum.

Dude, the Blackbird EXCELS with multi-day growth + the Gillette Blue Platinum.

You are going to be happy. Your face will be silky smooth after 1.25 passes.

I HIGHLY suggest Fine soaps. It's nice to have a triple milled hard soap that doesn't need need to be babied. Just leave it in a mug, bloom the shit out of it, Grind it with a brush. Shave . great great great results. Great soap.

Love:
L'Orange Noir = my favorite. It's a Terre D'hermes clone (orange and cedar) 3017'ed it.
American Blend = awesome. Yves Saint Laurant Rive Gauche clone. (barbershop scent)
Snakebite = some menthol, but not terrible. almost no scent.
absolute santal = REALLY good sandalwood. I 3017'ed my puck.

like:
italian citrus = aqua di parma clone. kind of meh. some people love it.
Fresh vetiver= tom ford gray vetiver clone. smells modern. wife said it smelled liek old lady.
lavender= smells like lavender

hate:
green vetiver= guerlain vetiver clone. I think it smells like old lady. Makes me nauseous.
platinum = creed aventus clone. So fucking sick of stuff smelling like aventus.

NRsD:

Blackbird showed and so did Geno's package with the Dart....but we all know Gene ain't happy with just sending what you bought.....Blackbird and G Plats separate, everything else in this pic from our man:

Image

Thanks for the extras brother.

Blackbird and Dart seem REALLY well built, tolerances are incredible. Handle on the BB fits my hand great, was worried about it. Don't know if I'll keep it on there as I found out the Maggard's handles fit on it and hold shit tight too. I dunno if I need to go that route, the BB isn't heavy enough really to need it.

Blackbird review:

This fuckin thing man......Geno, I see now why you didn't dig on the Timeless.

The .95 is a razor.

The Blackbird is a scalpel.

I research shit. We all research shit. From what Gene told me and stuff I'd read, I followed this line with this razor:

Image
Image

Loaded one of those new G Plats in, grabbed my favorite brush, my favorite soap (not really, fucking DIE already but whatevs) and went at it. 4 days growth, 1 WTG pass. Shit was GONE. This razor just wiped 4 days of beard away in ONE PASS. I loaded it up again just for fun and did an ATG pass. This thing is pretty damn amazing. I don't have a weak or fuzzy beard, it's medium thick and sits like wire until about day 3 when it starts to soften up and lay back. Day 4 is pretty much the same, but it's about as thick as I like it to get. BB just disappeared it.

I've always heard if you shave exactly correctly, you won't feel any sting from the AS. I always thought that was a myth...I have trouble areas that need buffing and that results in burn.....except for today. Shaved, hit the AS and nothing. I said out loud "what the fuck?" and P came walking in and asked what up. Told her to feel my face, she was blown away.

SOTD:

Geno, I'm just going to listen to you from now on. Screw independent thought on shaving, you've obviously been doing this long enough that you know better than I do.

Lol, I hear ya. I wish I could go again to see what the Dart can do.

Gonna do this for a week and then switch just to get the angles down. Could see this being a long term daily man, it’s great.

Dart handle should be nearly parallel to your face. Be careful on your neck. This angle will feel uncomfortable for your arm, but it’s necessary. Do not break the angle. You will pay.

The bird is more forgiving.

Fun one today:

Murphy & McNeil = SUPER soft. Nice scent. Not the easiest for me to lather. Awesome shave shave though. Great performance.
Oleo Apple Orchard = YES! This is indulgent in the most candle store way possible. I LOVE LOVE it.
Blackbird + Blue Plat + Chub hub + SV Bowl = win.

Great shave!

Vector and stainless blackbird pre orders are 18% off. (don't worry, Stein. Oxides were excluded from the sale."

New Sabres and Darts are 18% off too.

This is a big sale if you guys want to try Blackland stuff. You can always send it back or sell it.

This one was a little more traumatic.....I have a routine when I get home:

Shower
Shave
Eat
Internet/Game/Music

I had a new controller show up and was excited to rush through shit to get to trying it out.

That was a mistake. If you're rushed (I was), if your lather isn't on point (it wasn't) if you're not relaxing into the shave (I didn't) this thing will cut your face.

Two decent nicks, not the gear's fault. This will not be a razor I use when I'm in a hurry to do other things. I took my time and respected the fuck out of it yesterday and it rewarded me like no other razor ever has. I feel like I disrespected it today and it made me pay for it lol

Other hand, the actual result of the shave was fantastic again. This thing amazes me.

Even though you hurt yourself, I just love the way the Oxide Blackbird looks. It's definitely my favorite razor. When I go through my logs, it always comes out on top. I agree 100%. Even if you don't respect it, you will still get a great result, even if you get bitten.

Stella Alpina 4.2. Very good. I want to own every SV soap.
Abbate Y La Mantia 9;11 Matteo. Nice stuff. Got it on sale. Subtle scent.
OG Blue 7 o clock russian blade. Killer. (not as good as blue platinum. That's good news, since this is unobtanium)
Oxide beauty. The soap scum looks wonderful on this razor. Like a plane that just flew 2200 mph.
Loving my brush.
lather bowl was for the picture.

Late post cause it's P's bday and we had some family over.

SOTD

Opened up the cuts from yesterday, should have waited. Gonna take a couple days and heal up.
Tried it as is for 3 days, next up is this. (Geno avert your eyes from this monstrosity)

Image

BB handle is just too long and thin for me I think...I can't get the angles I need. See if this helps. If not, it gets chopped.

Weird thing to me is that like you said, it EXCELLED on the day I had 4 days growth, but the subsequent days as a daily shaver haven't been great. Gonna work with it some more and give it some more time.

GB showed up a day early:
