It is now time for a serious question: Shaving with a safety razor is, over the long term, more cost-effective than a cartridge-based system. Is shaving soap, and the brush, also subject to that same cost efficacy?

Depends on the brand and how soft it is.

Pre de Provence 63 is a quad milled ultra hard soap for $13 that will last hundreds of shaves.

Canned Foam will work fine with a safety razor fwiw. It also doesn’t last a whole lot of shaves though.

Btw, want to buy my terror soap and aftershave? Both used only once.

Pretty great today. Blade was toast though.

This aftershave is brutally cold, but the feeling dissipates nicely because it’s not synthetic. Also, with the soap I figured out how great this scent is since the menthol covers it up in the aftershave. I kind of want the edt now.

Still stoked about the wunderbar

Overall 9/10 because of the old blade.

Been reading Blackbird reviews and saw a pic of the angle you're supposed to shave with it; tried choking up and going shallower with the Timeless, worked great.

Super good. Working on an experiment. They say the Mallard Rose Chai will wear down to the bottom of the tin after 8 shaves. I want to test it.

Soap was great.
Blade was toast on 3.
Razor is awesome.
Brush was great with this soap.
Aftershave burned because of the excess buffing with this past prime blade.

West coast now has extro and goodfellas smile.

These were not imported before this.

Just a heads up.

Extro is good stuff.

I think goodfellas smile is actually tfs soap made under contract

I already screwed that up. I was too excited to use my Extro today to see if I could get it off the chopping block. I did. It was freakin great.

Pretty epic shave today. Damn.
Jaws = perfect
Gillette Blue Platinum = perfect
Extro = pretty cold, and awesome lather. great shave
Myrsol Blue = the star of the show today. Goes on smelling like Aqua Velva, then it morphs into my carpet cleaner spray in my old bachelor pad. I LOVE the scent. Nice plain ingredients too.
infinity brush = really liking it right now.

solid solid solid 10/10.

I've completely caved to the hype. I'm a Saponificio Varesino belieber.

Perfect shave today. I think I'm going to make it Myrsol week. Myrsol just gets it. fuck the allergy food.

I'm testing the whole brass head on the short handle to test if the cap is the reason I'm getting bad shaves with the long handle brass blackbird.

I think the handle is the problem. I may sell the whole brass razor and wait for oxide safety bar plates to be back in stock.

Today = 10/10

Used my SLOC this morning. Haven't used it in over a month. What a great razor! :rawk:

Finally ordered a bottle of Chatillion Lux Admiral Aftershave Toner. Looking forward to trying this out!

Also ordered a bottle of Caties's Bubbles' A Midnight Dreary aftershave.
The description sounds good enough to give it a try... we shall see... "scented with a poetic mix of orchid, lotus, spices, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, and more".

Just a couple of people too passionate about a soap and jumping down my throat treating me like a 5 year old.

I don't need to ramp my blood pressure up over soap/

Heard that. To me this is a completely YMMV thing.

Shit that works for them I’m pretty sure I’d hate, but don’t rag on anyone that won’t spend more than $4 for soap.

Fougere Angelique = win. Beautiful limey Christmas smell. I LOVE that they used reserve base for everything in this run. I've decided Excelsior is my 3rd favorite out B&M bases. I also think something in the Deltus base burns me a tad.

The winner blade kind of sucks. I've decided it's a loser. It's not worth using subpar blades!

I am still really liking the Wunderbar. It's aggressive, but just too beautiful to deny. I need to use a better blade next time.

The aftershave is a thing of beauty, No burn at all. I think my wife likes it too.

Stoked for most of this shave.

9.5/10 because of this shit blade.

Man, West Coast Shave is fast! The Chatillon Lux Admiral and Midnight Dreary aftershave showed up today!!! WOOO HOOO!!!!

Admiral has the same base scent as Ariana & Evans St. Barts but, it's got some really nice after-notes behind the base; two thumbs up! :thu: :thu:

...and two thumbs up for the Caite's Bubble's (named after the maker's daughter) Midnight Dreary aftershave! :thu: :thu:
It's mostly spicy with a bit of berry and some menthol... got lucky with this one!

Been using the SLOC this week.
The aftershave, on the right came from the old, Portland General Store company.... they rebranded themselves as Land Meets Sea.
I really liked Portland's General Store's Whisky aftershave and was disappointed to get redirected to the Land Meets Sea website when I wanted to order more Whiskey.
I took a chance on their Wild Opopanax aftershave and lo & behold! It smells exactly like their old Whiskey aftershave! SCORE!!!! :thu: :thu:
This version is lighter, doesn't last as long and has no alcohol... NTL, it still smells awesome so, I ordered a second, backup bottle.

The soap, in the IKEA bowl, is also from Land & Sea. It makes a really nice lather but, I'm not too keen on the orange scent.

You may notice that my Tiki Guy Brush is missing his chin and neck... dropped the fucker the other day and they broke off... in a nice way so, it still looks good!

Used all three after shaves and one hour later, I can only smell the Admiral... it's worth every penny!
