Re: Picard
true story:
hiking in canadian rockies in july 2012. was just south of the columbia icefields hiking a place called parker's ridge. 1 other car in the parking lot. 1/3rd of the way up i ran into the only other person hiking (coming down from the mountain) at that time. it was patrick stewart. i spent 10 minutes on the side of a mountain, just him and myself, talking outdoors. it was awesome but never would have happened had he not approached me. i saw him and recognized him immediately and sort of freaked out and couldn't look, like a japanese soldier in ww2 does when greeted by the emperor. he obviously saw me and said "don't you just love the mountains! i just feel so at home in the mountains" and we talked for 10 minutes, 5 of which was him getting me to pronounce words as he was very interested in my southern (US) dialect. he is absolutely one of the nicest people on this planet i have ever met and he was so enthusiastic about the outdoors/mountains/life/everything... incredible person.
it may not sound like much but i grew up in the country in AL and i've only met 1 other famous person, bill kazmaier, who is also a very nice (and gigantic) person.

it is crazy how it happened. i never once brought up star trek or any other movies and i never asked for a selfie or autograph. he made me feel so welcomed and comfortable that i pretty much immediately forgot who i was talking to. we were just two people talking about our love of the outdoors. maybe he remembers it b/c i just talked to him like a person. again, if not for him i would have just nervously walked past him. it was obvious that saw my reaction and took it upon himself to approach me when he could have just walked on by. incredibly nice person.

Re: Picard
Director has already been fired (Kruzman). 7 of 9 never met picard in the other series. So far its a dumpster fire. On the other hand they hired a fantastic director Next Gen had and things will be getting better. I'd guess half of season 1 will fucking suck.
