My wife got a promotion within her company to a new department with a much higher growth ceiling. This promotion comes with a $10K increase and they let her know they're going to try to fast track her up to a senior level over the next few months which also means more money.
My wife has always had a bad self-image in regards to how much she's worth in the workplace and how much she should be making. She's a much better employee than me but she's been way less confident asserting her value so naturally employers allow her to not assert it and pay her accordingly.
That's all changed now. She's hit a level that you don't go backward from mentally. This was a much needed positive stride.
Hopefully, they won't add too many extra hours onto her workload. Every raise I received, came with the obligatory, "Now, that you're making more money, we will expect more from you". To which I would cheerfully reply, "Give me all the work you can, I'm ready for it!"

More responsibility but it doesn't look like more hours. Technically she now has more available time off. Can telecommute once a week and work from home if she chooses, which helps a lot with one off holiday/school-closures and days when kids get sick and have to stay home.
Working from home is awesome - I do it on Fridays. Once, I had a phone conference, with some Federal Government procurement big wigs, while in my bathrobe, drinking a tea with lemon! It was a bit weird but, I got over it.

Congrats Mike. This is what I do. I leave catalogs and browser tabs open to the stuff that I want. If she asks, I'll explain why I need it in my life. Sometimes she bites.
