I have an att aluminum se-1. It’s probably my favorite artist club razor. I had a stainless steel se-2 open comb artist club and I HATED it.

This copper Windsor plate is the regular medium. It feels great. Kind of like the Rockwell plate 5.

The handle worked great with this razor. Since the plate and cap were blems and the handle was on sale, it ended up being $124 total. Definitely worth it.

Killer SOTD:

This razor kicks butt. This aftershave is one of the most beautiful scents I've ever encountered. Raspberry Leather.

Brush and soap were the perfect pair today. The DG icarus base is perfect for a tough, scritchy brush like this.

10/10 big time.

Forgot to post Sunday's SOTD. Great shave. Even with canned foam. The Sabre rules.

Super-Max blades are crazy thin, but worked great! WTF is with all the glue on Feathers. It's ridiculous!
I'm still using AOS Sandalwood puck for soap, I'll dig into the others once I get a proper bowl or mug.
The Torino is Lemon Pledge concentrate. But only at first!!! As the morning has gone on, it's calmed down.
Still fruity, but pleasant. Not sure if everyone around me feels the same, but no complaints yet!
Is anyone using pre-shave oils? I like the idea of having some lubrication on the skin, once you make a pass with the razor,
but I bought a fairly cheap oil and wasn't impressed.

Prelude:

Setup looks great! Yeah, the TFS70 Sotto La Mole is kind of like Fruity pebbles. Good stuff, but it burned my face.

Those blades are really nice.

RE: oils. I'm not a fan. I DO like some kind of pre shave treatment, but oils seemed to do nothing but give me zits. They probably messed with my lather as well. FWIW, I had a couple of really fancy Tcheon Fung Sing oils.

If you want to try a cheap, awesome preshave, get some Noxzeema classic clean in the blue tub. Put it on your face with some hot water while you're making your lather. Then rinse it off before you apply your lather.

FWIW, good lather shouldn't need more lubrication. If anything, preshaves are made to soften your beard. The menthol in a preshave numbs your face a bit too to add comfort.

Not a fan of preshave oil either.
Bought some for my first straight razor shave but, it didn't seem to make the shave any better.

WSP is legit....I'd put em below B&M, but not by much. This scent could be stronger, but the soap itself is great. AS tops it off....ran to the store afterwards, chick in line behind asked what I was wearing cause I smelled great.

Only thing I'd change is the fact that the tins are kind of small, harder to build on than oversized pucks I'm used to lately.

Best shave since Wednesday....7 O'Clock Yellows are sharp but smooth, dig em.

8/10 so I don't fuckin jinx myself for tomorrow.

SOTD:

It was too fucking early. Like 6am. So, my beard wasn't ready. It made this razor feel just a tad less that perfect. Felt like it bit me, but no blood. Maybe the blade is toast after 2x. Who knows.

I love the scent of this new LE Soap Commander Tenacity. Good performance as always.

The Oleo New City is the best smelling product I own, I think. Unbelievable. Drives women nuts.

This brush is probably too soft for Soap Commander. Probably better suited to softer soaps like BM Reserve, Aussie PR, Grooming Dept., DG Bison, etc.

Overall a 9/10. No perfect, but not bad.

BTW, yesterday's haul:
Image
Image
Scents:
Tenacity: Like a green apple air freshener. Conjures up a memory from somewhere. I like it.
Refreshment: Sweet tea. Like lemoney sugar. It's good.
Refinement: Beautiful, musky soft.
Respect: Way more limey than expected. Like Royall Lyme. Looking forward to it.
Courage: based on the scent notes, I was expecting to smell like Terre D'Hermes. it doesn't smell like anything.
Passion: sweet and spicy.

Wanted it again with the Karve. 26mm Maggard's brush and a bit less water made huge lather, maybe the best I've ever made before, this was giant ass clouds of lather. Dig this stuff.

7 O'Clock Green...smooth, but fuckin sharp for a new blade. Can't decide if I want to stick to trying these out or just grab a sleeve of Blue Diamonds.

I have like 3 tucks of Nacets on my desk but I'm currently being too much of a pussy to try them in anything.

Is your 7OC green Indian or Russian?

FWIW, Nacets are probably the same thing as Russian Greens.

BTW, I've decided to use Snakebite soap tomorrow. I'm done being a pussy.

AWESOME SOTD:

So, the Snakebite is all bark and not a ton of bite. The crystalline menthol was just on the outside of the puck for intimidation. It's a beautiful soap with just the right amount of menthol. Wonderful lather and performance. Every time I use Fine soap, I remember why I used to 3017 pucks one after another. This is damned good soap.

Chatillon Lux Taum Sauk - great outdoorsey cyprus scent. This probably had more menthol than the Fine soap.

The Sabre is the shit. Most badass razor on the planet.

This new AP shave Co 30mm brush is beautiful.

Today was solid 10/10

2nd one on the 7 O'Clock Yellow, just smooth, no sharp. New Turn N Shave brush, fanchurian badger, fuckin awesome. Diamond killed it, CLux Admiral AS and CLux Bon Vivant.

I see why you're so enamored of Chatillon Lux Gene, these guys know what they're doing.

Chucked a Nacet in the SLOC and gave it a whack.....sharp and smooth, dig these. 3 pass DFS, no blood. Don't know that I'd do a 1st shave with these in Timeless or Karve, but worked great here.

LGC good stuff, but lathers different using this brush....I know some of MM's B&M stock has been sitting for a bit, and I think this was one of them, puck was shrunk, took a bit to get it lathered. After that, took a little longer to get where I wanted to be with this brush/soap combo. Got it though.

#glissantgang

Had to night shave; don’t normally like to do this but you know, family holiday shit...Oleo Soapworks 11...this is a great warmer scent to me, I smell vanilla, some musk, some Tonka bean, but not as warm as a vanilla sandalwood, there's something sharper here on the top notes. Good lather, GREAT scent. Top performer. Felt like a warmer AS, Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood fit the bill. Found a Super Max Blue Diamond with 1 shave on it in another razor, immediately appropriated it for the Timeless .95SB. Perfect DFS, dig it. TNS Green Machine, 24mm Fanchurian killed it.

Overall a great shave. This SC refreshment is great. Smells like lemon, sugar, and tea. Performs like a champ.

My Gem PTFE was toast today after 5 shaves. Still more than I get on a DE though. Nice.

I love Fine L'Orange Noir. I need to use it more often. It also allows me to layer Terre D'Hermes on top of it. I smell great.

I'm going 9/10 because of my spent blade.

First 10/10 in a while... the Occam's does a fantastic job with the Feather ProGuards. BBS with absolutely no blade rash or nicks.
Unfortunately, the ProGuards only last one shave but, what a shave! Two thumbs up!!! :thu: :thu:
I'm thinking of turning my Tiki Guy into a brush... one more thing for the list of things that I'd love to do but, will never get done!

NICE!!!! That would make a killer brush. I highly recommend knots from TurnNshave on etsy. The 25mm angel is a thing of beauty if you like white looking knots.

Oh man, TurnNshave isn't taking any orders.... any other suggestions? I used to keep track of suppliers... not so much anymore.
I may just cut a knot off one of my other brushes.

Dude, don’t cut any knots. Maggards has great knots for like $8.

Apshaveco on Etsy might have some.
