So, check this out....

Siliski soaps sent me "Earth" instead of "Patchouli Blend".
I sent an email explaining that I received the wrong item and I wanted to return it for what I had ordered.
Here is their reply...

Brian,
Patchouli Blend was renamed Earth with the new recipe. I was not given the updated graphics until yesterday to change the computer. There is a little bit of hay fragrance added, but I was going that direction anyway.
Andrew.

Fucking LOL!!!

My reply...
Andrew,
Sorry to hear that... very disappointing.
Brian

Followup email...
Had the graphics to print the label but, not update the website? LOL!!!

Follow up email...
Earth smells like dirt and licorice.... not a hint of patchouli.

Follow up email...
May I exchange the Earth for something else?

RIPOFF

Nope on $ from me.

There’s a few guys I’m just gonna stick to anymore.

Murphy&McNeil, Barrister and Mann, Stirling, Mickey Lee and that’s pretty much it.

They’re too good to bother trying other crap.

SOTN

Image

Razor: Timeless .68
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Black
Soap: Kraken
AS: Fine Platinum
Brush: RR Bruce

All worked together great.....man I really just love the Kraken scent, this shit is perfect for a summer time shave, lathers wonderfully too.....I dunno if I've just had this longer than other stuff and know how to work with it better, but there's no out of control lather, no extra stuff falling out into the sink, just perfect coverage every time. Dig it.

I decided to give the guy at Siliski Soaps a break. I read a few good reviews, about his soap so, I sent him this, this morning...

Hello Andrew,
I decided to give Earth a try instead of pursuing a return.
I'm sure you're very busy and juggling many things but, you really should have contacted me BEFORE sending Earth instead of Patchouli Blend.
All the best,
Brian

Brian,
Earth and Patchouli Blend smell almost exactly the same. Earth has more depth and is more complex, but the patchouli intensity is the same. I cannot stress enough that Patchouli Blend was renamed Earth with a slightly better scent blend. You would of received the EXCACT same soap if I kept the Pachouli Blend name.
As you probably know, most artisans in the market have day jobs. I manage a lab in addition to raising my child with my wife. I went to the Maggard Razors meetup this past weekend and am going to a wedding tomorrow morning in Wisconsin. In that tight schedule and the hectic schedule of my graphics designer, the website was not updated immediately.
I have some old stock coming back from Maggard Razors and I would be able to ship you a tub if you would like. I can ship it to you once I get it which will probably be sometime next week. Hopefully.
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the reply - I appreciate it.
No need to ship another tub of soap - we're good.
All the best,
Brian

 His first reply was, "its a new recipe with hay scent added".... now, "it the EXACT same soap".
At least he didn't use the usual, "my wife is in the hospital"... heard that one at least three times from online sellers.

Nice thing for him to do would be to keep track of your address, send the shit anyway and then do a follow up email to see if you’re satisfied.

I get that they’re busy but this is like guitar shit.

If you don’t do it exactly right, don’t fucking do it.

Watch this vid:

Tell me how shaving sticks are faster? He has to brush his face for nearly five minutes, and still ends up with a dry lather.

I’m tempted to film myself shaving just to show it doesn’t need to take an eternity to get a great lather.

:thu: Right on!!!! The dude should have sent me an email, explaining what was up, BEFORE shipping something other than I ordered.... instead of giving lame excuses.
No one ever wants to hear why you did something stupid... they just want to hear that you're not going to make the same mistake again. Buh-jeeebuz!!!

Been working on a stick of Speik and a stick of Palmolive since 2012... taking forever to use them up.
The Palmolive lathers fairly quickly, the Speik takes a bit longer but, I never spent more than a minute working up a lather with either.
That guy in the vid must have really bad water.

I tried the Siliski Earth soap this morning... I have to say, performance wise, it's pretty good shit!
Incredibly slick, amazing protection.
He adds Tussah Silk to his soap that makes it much slicker: http://www.soap-making-resource.com/tussah-silk.html
I'm not digging the scent or, the customer service but man, this stuff shaves well.

SOTD:
Succumbed to the allure of the stick
Image

It was actually an awesome shave. I focused on getting the stick extra wet, and using the top and sides of the stick on my face. It probably added about a minute to my routine, which is not uncommon for any triple milled Euro hard soap.
Razor: Rockwell 6S plate 5. still one of the most perfect razors I've ever used.
Blade: Shave 1 on Sputnik. Awesome.
Soap: Valobra Stick. I just can't deny the cool factor of the packaging. I also like the smell. I have learned to accept the stick and have been integrated into the collective.
Afterhsave: Myrsol Don Miguel. Nice FLoral viburnum/jasminey smell. Great menthol. Scent fades really fast, but that's okay.
Fragrance: BM COol EDT. Floid Blue copy. Not sure how much I like Floid Blue anymore, but this is a great copy.
Overall: 10/10. Got a really close, comfortable, complete shave.

I will never be able to compete with Gene, but I think I’m starting to get this shaving game.

Speaking of which: I just splashed on the B&M Classic, after another nice shave with the SLOC and platinum black blade. Cremo Reserve. I love this razor. My 17-year-old nephew is getting one for Christmas. Whether he likes it or not.

I also have another 1000 yellows on order, which will, in theory, give me another 19 years (assuming one blade a week, 52 weeks a year). Yeah, I will be clean-shaven into my mid-50s, at roughly $.04/shave.

The pic doesn’t show the SLOC fully assembled, because I want it to dry.
