Don't have time for vid ATM, but this is of much interest to me. I'm a big RC fan.

Falcon Joe and I played with live loops for a couple of years doing post rock.

My tips:
1. Keep the loops short.
2. if it goes off the rails, just play something new and louder over it, and eventually cut the loop to start the new one. The drummer should be able to sense what you're doing if you both know it's off the rails.

Oh man, I wouldn't even think about doing this live!
My band is too old, punk and crusty to add loop pedals to a show!

I'm just thinking about doing it at home for kicks. Plus, there aren't too many drummers who can play to a loop without losing their timing... at least in my circles (accidental pun)

So much this, but also, it's pretty hard to nail a perfect loop as the guitar player too. Just being one microfraction of a second off becomes a full beat away after a few playthroughs. Been working on this all week with my looper and drum machine (SDrum).

I'm currently playing in my first single-guitar band as that solo guitarist. I've been working on filling more space and have started to consider the idea of using a looper to setup a vamp I can solo over.

Will watch after work, thanks for posting, Brian.

Saw that video yesterday, it's pretty cool and Russian Circles kick ass. In some ways it's neat just to get a bit of a glimpse into how another (and albeit very skilled) player conceptualizes and does things.

Having now watched it, he has some great tips, especially the part about making each loop have a unique tone or the whole thing turns to mush.
