The Sputnik I had in my razor already had 3 or 4 shaves on it so, don't worry about your 100 incoming Sputniks...they will be fine.

Fuck, you guys......4 days. FOUR! Over now thank baby Jeebus.
SOTD

Razor: 1966 EverSharp Krona...this thing rocks hard. Not even mildly aggressive, I think you COULD cut yourself with it, but you'd have to work at it. 2 passes, BBS. Fuckin awesome.
Blade: Derby Platinum, first on this blade. Worked great.
Soap: MLS Kraken...wanted something mild scented for this first one back.
AS: MLS Kraken again....I really like this stuff, it dries to a great mellow scent.
Balm: MM Ouroboros...damn good stuff.

Nice^!
Sotd:

Awesome. Bm reserve spice soap rules. Beautiful scent.
Karve open d with short handle. Great!
Blue platinum Gillette
Chatillon Lux tsm fougere aftershave. Super.
I’m giving today a 10/10. I don’t want to seem too liberal with my ratings, but I’m on a streak right now that will surely fly into the cliffs of failure.
Btw, I’m starting to think the handle affects the feeling of a razor quite a bit.

SOTD:

Pretty good today.
Karve Open D. I've decided definitively, I like the Karve Safety Bar more than the Karve Open Comb.
Gillette Blue Platinum. Day 2. I can feel the performance sliding. Not going to go Day 3 with it.
Declaration Grooming Sni Mato. Great soap. Great post shave. Great Lather. Great scent for me. I know Stein HATED it.
Furbo Vintage Blu. So much menthol for a Floid Clone, but killer. Nice scent. Nice feel.
Overall 9/10.

Can get down with all of that except the you know what.
Funny how olfactory senses vary so widely; I know you love it but that’s one of those that I think couldn’t smell worse.
Good job on the rest of it tho!
That brush should be here this week sometime, stoked!

Re: Gillette
Tried the A&E Asian Plumb this morning, with the Viking Blades Imperial razor.
The Asian Plumb makes an awesome lather and has a decent scent... decent enough to keep using but, I don't think I'll reorder. Definitely will try something else by A&E.
The Viking Blades Imperial August has a design flaw. If you adjust the blade exposure, while the barn doors are open, the adjusting nut comes off the threads!
If the razor was $20 or $30, I'd say OK, no worries but, it's $68!!!
It comes with a card that says how great it is and in tiny letters, it says, "do not adjust when open". "To fix, open the doors, set to maximum and press down on the head while moving the adjusting ring to the 1 position" (or something to that effect).
Also, if you tighten the barn doors too much, you can't adjust the blade gap.
Viking Blades should reverse engineer the Gillette Fat Boy or the Slim - never had any issues adjusting either.

Bummer man. I knew those were Chinese so I never bit. Bummed it’s not working out for you. Should have gotten a Karve for a similar price.

Nah... it shaves fine, it's just got an annoying mechanical defect.
Now, that I know I like it set to 5, I won't have to worry about the issue anymore.
Always meant to get a Fatip... maybe soon... I spent a lot of money last month... might have to wait until June... especially since I have a vintage Wilkenson Sticky and an old Leresche OC incoming!
I only wanted the Sticky but, the guy was selling package deals... had to buy both for $50 so, not too bad... and I don't have any razors from France!
It really is a small world, when a guy in Korea ships a British and French razor (to me) in the USA!

sotd

I'd go 8/10 for this one...the SC kicks major ass. Not sure if it was blade, razor, soap or me, but yesterday's with this setup was closer. Course I took way longer and took 2 slow/careful passes. Maybe I just need to chill with this razor and go slower.

SOTD:

STEIN, BUY THE SC VISION.
Everybody else, BUY A ROCKWELL 6S on Amazon for $78.
What a great shave. Totally stoked about the Rockwell. Used it on plate 4, and could still have it be a tad more aggressive. That said, it just felt right. I can see why so many people rave about it. I was afraid it was the typical gimmicky entrepreneur brand where they found the cheapest way possible to make something , then put all of the money into slick marketing. I like the matte feel of this injection molded stainless steel. It's not zinc, and it's not Chinese. It rocks. GREAT Design.
Soap Commander Vision is one of my favorite soaps ever. Just a mild mint. Not menthol-ey. Not pepperminty. not spearminty. It's a "Soft mint".
Meijer Old Spice isn't the greatest aftershave ever, but it's great for like $3.
Today was a 10/10. Back on track with great shaves AND on the inaugural voyage of the Rockwell.

Glad on the Rockwell, heard good things.
Can’t do it yet, gotta wait till the May thing is over. It’s on the list tho.
EDIT: dude that’s badass, you just pick/flip the plates for aggression level?

Dude, restraint contests suck (for me at least).
IB just listed Game Changer .68's (rare and discontinued. Joe vowed never to make the 68 again after the 84 came out). and a boat load of Grooming Dept soap. I finally get to try "laundry."
I'm also buying both badger versions of the 24 barrel, and some Fine American Barber Cologne.
EDIT: Yep, it has 3 plates, (1/3, 2/4, and 5/6).
You just flip it, and the number showing is what you're shaving with.

I hear you. I really need to relax on this shit tho; between what I’ve bought and what you’ve sent me I haven’t even dented anything as of yet. I probably have enough stuff to shave daily for the next two years. Plus I’m kind of jonesing to try a Timeless.
All that said, P texted me earlier and told me she just found a little ‘shaver store’ in our local mall full of Razorock and BM stuff. Check it out after work.

Dude, no way! Awesome! let me know if they have good shit.
Interesting thing about B&M. Lots of limited releases that sell out quickly at WCS, IB, Maggard's, etc, BUT......They do business with a LOT of REALLY small retailers. I've gotten some extremely rare, coveted shit wayyyy after it was sold out everywhere else. I just got some Hallows soap from some barber shop in Chicago online.

Re: Gillette
So Mini Moustachery was pretty fuckin cool and I gave dude my email for when they get new stuff in. He's a serious guy for DE shaving, asked my opinion on stuff/what I was using and liked best so far as a noob, and also asked what I'd like to see in there.
Check this out:

Had some nice badgers and bowls and stuff too:

They had like two cases of straights, and one for DEs.....all Merkur stuff, but ALL the Merkur stuff lol
All BM stuff, including 8 tubs of the Hallows:

Dude that Sinfonia stuff was my JAM.....next time I go in there I'm grabbing that one. It smells great.
They had like 3 counters of Stirling stuff, I didn't get pics of all of it but that shit smells fantastic. I see why it gets the reviews.
All the RR stuff:

That stuff was ok, but after smelling all the Stirling and BM stuff it had a plasticky tang to it, except this one which smelled fucking awesome:

Turned around to leave and P was paying for some shit....asked her what she got and she said she'd grabbed me some stuff and I had to wait until I got home. Turned out to be the Amici and this stuff:

Badass of her. I really liked this stuff.....feels light and springtime to me. Dig it.
If you have one of these stores near you, check it out, they're great.
Gene, P told me later she didn't like ANY of the BM stuff except the Waves lol....I could see it, she's pretty picky and sort of traditional in what she likes. I think I'm pretty lucky I didn't just end up with some sandalwood stuff.

DUDE, that looks so fucking awesome. Waves is my jam!!!!! It’s based on Gillette wild rain which is from the era when I started shaving. It has a soft spot in my heart.
I have the sinfornia splash. Pretty sure it’s a jasmine scent. Very nice.
Btw, that Razorock don donato is rare stuff. Discontinued for a long time. I finished the splash a long time ago.

Yeah it was pretty cool to be able to go in there and be able to actually try all the stuff out as far as scents go.
That’s funny that the Waves is based on that; asked my daughter what she thought of it and she said “it smells like old timey shave stuff, like Gillette!”
Makes me laugh that’s what it’s based on.
For what it’s worth, the only other BM I liked was the Lavanille; I totally get where you say they’re hit or miss for scents. There were a lot that had a weird underscent; can’t describe it but it’s in pretty much all of them.
This one lathered up awesome tho, dug it, and the scent is something I can get down with.
I’m gonna go thru and put some stuff away for spring/summer, this will make the cut.
Next time I go back if they have that RR one still I’ll grab it for you.

I don’t need the soap, but I would love the aftershave. It’s actuality “sold out” on the mm website.
What did you think of the reserve classic and the reserve spice?

Oh, man! That store looks amazing!!! So cool to be able to smell stuff before you buy.
I'da been huffin' on everything!!!
There's a pharmacy in NYC that sells a ton of DE shave gear... haven't been there in a few years.
The first time I went, I tried spritzes of all the aftershaves and wound up smelling like a freak for two days!!!

Buhjeebuz! I really don't need any more soap especially, after receiving not one, but two care packages from Gene - thanks again Gene!!!

But, I really want a tub of Bay Rum soap so, wtf?
