LMAO... 14 pages into the calculations... "If 1 < PI < 3" ITS GO TIME

Meanwhile some smooth talking psych major has already whisked her away... lol

Eq 2 has an error. Should be less than or EQUAL to 3.

PI is the P-macing inequality index.

Johnny'sGotTheBlues wrote:Eq 2 has an error. Should be less than or EQUAL to 3.

It can never equal 3 because DI can never equal 1 if you are to close a deal because when DI is 1, that is the point at which you are so drunk, you pass out.

Then if DI can never equal 1 there is a mistake in Eq 3. It shouldn't read "less than or equal" it should only read "less than".

One of Eq 3,4 or 5 needs to be changed to "less than" or Eq 2 has to be changed to less than or equal. 

EDIT: I'm not trying to be an ass here, even if I'm coming off as one. :) Your buddy's engineering buddies will notice the small typo so he should change it. 

Oh, "Benefit" is misspelled. And the derivative of a constant is = 0 so equations 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 all need to be looked at.

I just wanted to correct the one comment you made. To be honest, I noticed the less than or equal to portions and he decided to write a comment about it instead of fixing the equation. I think that the DI has to be able to equal one because otherwise you wouldn't be able to test it to find your maximum drunk, but in the terms of the inequality, it can't equal one, so there's some discontinuity there.

That's funny that benefit is spelled correctly, then incorrectly 4 words later.

I didn't notice the error about the derivatives before. It's definitely interesting.

It takes quite a bit to offend me and even less so when it's not my work being critiqued. He just asked me to get this out there. I think it's pretty creative and an interesting waste of time.

Even though I'm coming off as an ass here, my motives are pure  I'm really trying to help.

Besides, it's the first time I've used my math degree for anything more complex than doing my taxes in decades. :thu:

I'm a mechanical engineering student with a background in process operations as a 3rd Class Power Engineer.

JGTB has a math degree in playing licks at the casino to make panties drop with uber gear.

Cool man. What school are you attending? Close to graduating?

Im a fan of academic/R&D engineering, but the interesting stuff is not as lucrative as the big money stuff I imagine. I live in a big oil refining area, and currently work for an engineering firm that supports the plants around here.

I've got 2 years left. I'm working for a small engineering firm in Calgary Alberta. Oil country up here. There's certainly lots of money to be had in engineering, but it's definitely not easy. VERY challenging degree to get, no matter which specialization you choose.

I don't know what you mean by "big money stuff". 6 figures isn't that hard to attain if you plug at it. I used to make that and I plan on it again within 5 years of graduation.

I said the interesting engineering jobs are probably not as lucrative as the higher paying engineering jobs.
