Belated OGWHIDD
Heh so here’s the follow up to the thread I posted months ago...
On 12/22 my wife started having labor contractions but they were too far apart. These were more intense than Braxton Hicks though. I started timing here and we got to about 5 minutes apart Sunday morning. We went to the hospital, hung out in triage and went home. On Christmas Eve it got more intense and went up to 3-4 minutes. Went back to the hospital after midnight and got admitted about 2 am. First labor for the wife ever and my first. At about 8:30/9pm she was well dialated and contracting harder and they broke her water. 2.5 hours later after some intense pushing and labor our son Duncan came into the world. 6 lbs, 12 oz, 20 inches long. They had him on the warming table measuring him and I was right by there. I put my hand next to his and he grabbed my finger and that was it. All remaining composure I had fell and I started crying tears of joy. Instantly loved this kid. Mom was recovering well and we were out a couple days later.
So I’m learning to sleep in short bursts. He’s eating well and is honestly real chill unless he gets hungry. He’s been opening his eyes more and doing well overall. We had a health scare with my wife having to go to the ER but she’s home now and recovering. So yeah. Christmas Baby. Now the challenge of making sure his Christmas and birthday still get celebrated on their own and not rolled up.

Typical. Naming a baby Duncan and posting no pics. Pics or it's a Bugera.

super cute kiddo bro. enjoy every second. its crazy fun when they start walking and talking but i get sad that they arent babies anymore. you never get that time back and it goes by in the blink of an eye so make lots of memories.
this is so true. i did the same all four times.

Dude, I’m so glad I get two weeks paid paternity leave. I’ve been doing the majority of feedings and changings and other house stuff but I don’t care. Yeah I get a little frustrated sometimes but he’s worth it.

Re: Belated OGWHIDD
congratulations - yeah you learn how to function on no sleep real quick, but you adjust and live in a haze a couple weeks.
My oldest was born the day after Christmas, so she gets Christmas gifts one day, birthday the next, toy overload.
We do something special for her on her birthday with immediate family. Once she hit school age and wanted parties with friends, we just pick a Saturday in January to celebrate it and throw her a party so she can invite her friends.
Enjoy it, it goes by quick.
