Remember that Fake Threatin band? interesting read
This is a really long but interesting read.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/jered_threatin
I can actually understand why he did it, I give him points for pulling it off as far as he did.

Jared Threatin made me look!
I suppose, that's what he was trying to do all along?
Here's the only video I was able to find of his music... wonder if the soundtrack is really him?

If it is really him performing on the audio tracks, I'm impressed by his skills but, the whole self promotion thing is not impressive in the least.
He forgot to do some promoting, before his European "tour" (to boost ticket sales).

Didn't hear anything about this before. Probably won't again

Re: Remember that Fake Threatin band? interesting read
I saw this video of a dude covering a couple of Threatin's solos a while back during all the drama.
The solos are pretty badass actually

I know his brother through some BC Rich groups. They are both very competent musicians. Dude has some brass balls, that's for sure.

Well, what I learned from this is my former drummer was the drummer on this "tour".
Given that he is an average drummer at best and an entitled little prick, I am in eternal debt with Jered Threatin.
I love the part were his mom came to pick him up and take him back home.

Guitars:

Yeah, we hired Dane to play 2 shows with us, one of them being Extreme earlier this year. By the second show I realized his drumming was sub-par and he acts like the world owns him a favor. I fired him the next day and he complained that his mom wouldn't have "wasted her time" going to see him play if he knew he was going to be fired the next day

The end of this clip (with the vocals) sounds a lot like Earshot to me.

I love this story so much.
I also love this guy for pulling it off. It's insane how well orchestrated it was, right down to him intentionally exposing the lie himself. He's now an international story, and can probably land a documentary deal, lol.
It's like the "boy in the balloon" thing that happened years ago, but much, much more complex and well planned.
As a marketing director by trade, I consider this man a wizard.

Jared is a douche - all he did was lose money and piss people off.
Had he scammed the media into publicizing his tour -and- had he brought in a crowd at each show, I'd be impressed.
His 15 minutes of fame are over.

Jared is incredibly smart.
Jared appears to be a competent musician.
Jared did nothing illegal, and exploited existing social media channels and human gullibility.
Jared wrote a cautionary tale about the internet. He's basically a Black Mirror episode.
Jared now has a cult following, and can probably spin up a documentary. His 15 minutes aren't over.
Jared is a wizard.
I'm not saying I'd do any of this, but damn, the dude heisted a zillion people, really well, lol.

Re: Remember that Fake Threatin band? interesting read
There is an element of things blowing up in his face and him proclaiming that he had already planned everything (inlcuding the failure) that happened and intended to be the villain. No he didn't, he clearly hoped crowds would attend and he would take off from there. I don't find him Uber-Smart, but he is Uber-Selfish. If he created everything and then stopped at the headline booking, he may have been successful in getting some traction. Booking huge venues that turned out empty screwed over many people, including the bandmates who believed in him. This is the behavior of a Sociopath. Evene when things go south, they convince themselves and others that it is all according to their super smart plan.
That being said, he writes some cool hooks and would be a solid guitar/backup singer if he could get a personality transplant.

So he will make a doc that might get watched by a few people making fun of him and is blacklisted from ever playing a show ever again?

Agreed.... Jared is totally full of shit.
The article mentions that someone accused him of using his parent's money to finance the tour.
Jared laughed it off as being hilarious, stating that he "squirreled away money earned by flipping burgers at Burger King and installing breathalyzers in cars".
Gee, if I could pay for a house (or rent a house), fund a tour, record, make a video, buy nice gear, pay bills, etc., all by flipping burgers, I'd quit my job right now!
I bet Jared idolizes Rod Blagojevich!

I highly doubt he intentionally wanted to expose his lie. That sounds to me like an afterthought after his plan failed miserably. Like the reporter said, the "proof" that he exposed himself could very well be fake/backdated.
I think he was hoping that all the fake buzz would make people curious enough to show up to the gigs ad the tour moved along, which never happened.
Yeah he is "famous" now but it's Romeo Rose type of fame. More like infamy and it amounts to nothing of real value. Even if he lands a documentary deal, which I seriously doubt, it wouldn't help his actual career much, just like this controversy.
