I only read the article about how they scammed venues into booking them.
I can't see that working anywhere, but in a bar. No medium to large venue would ever give a promoter a night without full payment upfront from the advanced ticket sales.
This is why real bands like Graveyard and the Dandy Warholes start selling tickets six months in advance.
The guy must have been giving happy endings to the venue managers... only way he could have pulled that off.
