Looper pedals?
My band's drummer quit*. Since we don't have a full time bass player either (we've been using a couple great players as subs but they're in high demand) so for the time being we're doing an acoustic trio.
So instead of us sounding like the Kingston Trio, we like to go for a Pink Floyd meets Owsley vibe. To that end, I'm looking at looper pedals.
Anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking at the big Boss looper right now. Whattya think?
*He's going back to school at nights while working full time during the day. Good on him!!!

Those two are my #1 and #2 choices right now.
I know a guy on another board who is a long time boomerang user. I'm gonna ask him what he thinks about the two in comparison to each other.
I gotta say though, that the vids and reviews on the Boss are pretty damn good. It's pricey as fuck but hey, you get what you pay for. And if it says Boss on it, you KNOW it's made robust enough for real time - on stage use.

I'm really interested in the TC Ditto looper that's coming out. I love the idea of one button simplicity.
Gotta have some SOUL.

I never should have sold my rc20. I agree boss pedals are great. I did have tu2 die but that was after 6 years of use. It prolly could have been fixed too. They are built great.
I'm eyeing the rc2 or 3.

This. I've been waiting for an easy to use looper without a million functions I'll never use. And it's cheap.

funny, all the HCFX guys immediately poopooed it. i think it would work for some applications.
i have been trying to use my RC20 a lot more lately, layering stuff and samples.

Wow, that ditto looper seems pretty cool. I've been wanting a looper as well, but most of them seem hopelessly complex (ok, really, i'm just lazy and can't be bothered to figure out how to use something with 80 million features I only want to use 3 of).
Thanks for posting about that.

Lol - it hasn't even been released yet and they're writing it off?

Not enough features and made by a mainstream company.

I'll be interested to see the price on them. The only price I saw was $129.99, but since it hasn't been released yet, I don't know how official that is.

A local boutique dealer first informed me of them. He listed the 129 as a MAP, so I'd bet it's pretty accurate.
Re: Looper pedals?
If you won't be doing any sampling/pre-recorded stuff and you'll just be recording/looping in real-time, the Akai Headrush E2 is a great option. Super simple to use and you can get it for ~$100. As a bonus, has a good digital delay and tape delay simulator.
