New Steve Perry
It's great great IMHO. His voice is obviously not what it used to be but the tone is still there. Great songwriting too.

Re: New Steve Perry
It's great to hear some new music from him!
His 1994 album has some excellent material and at the time it was released I thought his vocals never sounded better.

Dude's voice is perfect. Even in his old age; he just sounds great. The song itself isn't necessarily what I expected but I am soooo glad to hear him singing again.

Agreed; yet when I heard this tune yesterday; it pretty much got me a little misty eyed. Dude's voice just hits that spot for me. It's a combination of nostalgia and (in the early days) just breathtaking vocal skill. Of the non-metal variety.

Re: New Steve Perry
Interesting!
His band sounds great. I like the song structure & chorus. A couple of lines of the lyrics struck me as a little rough on first listen, but otherwise yeah, well written song.
His voice has more miles on it, and that can be a great thing in terms of texture and character, but I found myself wondering once or twice whether he were straining a bit.
Then in other places, he made it sound so easy, which was always his particular magic, to me.
As others have said, it's awesome to see him putting out new music.

Decent tune for sure. Steve sounds great. Yeah a little raspy but I still love his voice. Let's get down to what really matters though... DAT GOLDTOP!

Re: New Steve Perry
I was a big Steve Perry fanboi.........who wasn't with that voice!
The music was good, but I couldn't get past about two minutes before getting bored. It felt way too safe/over produced........
It was a mistake for me to watch a video of him. He looks like Dean Martin/Perry Como from the 50's, and it messed with my mind........How old is he now, anyway?
He was also doing a lot of stupid things with his feet, two-foot slides, and avoiding the mike cord.....distracting. I realized there was a lot of distracting things in the video that took away from how I felt about the whole thing.......
And yes, one of my first thoughts was "damn! nice goldtop!"
(my second thought was "what's with the dopey baseball cap?" Can't old guys be more creative with hiding their baldness/grey hair like Billy Gibbons??
)
Anyway, glad you posted it, really glad to see such a great talent still putting out stuff!

I like Steve Perry, such a great voice.
This, was just mediocre at best. Like Grandparent Contemporary radio friendly.

OK.... that's great that he's wants to record music again. Ringo Starr (who knows how old HE is!!) is still touring (with Steve Lukather and others). I didn't like him post Beatles, but if enough people are willing to pay, why not??

Well, he's gotta be in his 60s by now, I'm sure. As for the Perry Como thing, I think I remember him mentioning in an interview that was who inspired him to get into singing.

OK song, and Steve still sounds good. i kept waiting for the killer guitar solo that never happened.
Verdict - Decent, but desperatly needs Neal Schon .
