I haven't found any modern players that do it for me like Sean Costello. Will be interesting to see the recommendations.

yeah I'd also recommend YOU getting your butt in a studio and making an album! That would pretty much solve this thread.

I hesitated to post this guy because he's much more of a jazz guy than a blues player, but he's so fucking good I think he's worth mentioning. He does get down on some bluesier stuff, like in this song:

The album that song is on (Let Me Introduce You) is fucking brilliant from start to finish IMO. It's heavily acoustic based, with a lot of straight baby makin' music, but when he goes electric he fucking wrecks shop. Easily one of my favorite "new" guitarists, and he's got a great voice too.

Edit: just noticed he has a new clinic vid up on youtube. Dude is too damn good

Listening now. Great playing for sure. Not sure how I feel about his vocals though, not crazy about it on a first listen but it may grow on me after a few songs

He's a little more rock than bluesy, but he's pretty damn good. And was opening up for GNR in Europe the last few weeks.

That's cool. But yeah definitely more rock than blues. Actually not blues at all from what I am hearing so far  But I like it :) Good find, adding it to my playlist now.

I've heard of them but I haven't listened to Circa survive yet.... now I don't know if I want to

I think the music sounded fine except his vocals sounded like pre-puberty John Mayer... as if regular John Mayer vocals were not bad enough

How about Samantha Fish?

Saw her a year or two ago with a sax, horn, keyboard, bass and drummer. With that lineup, they reminded me of the Blues Brothers...

She does one or two songs, with a slide, on an oil can guitar as part of her show....

Came in to mention Duarte and Gales. Should've known Billy'd be on it. :thu:

Duarte's _Tailspin Headwhack_ is … unorthodox blues, and one of my favorite albums ever. I read that he got a lot of blowback from the blues community for his interpretation of "The Thrill is Gone," but it's dope, as the youngsters say.

And I'm only just discovering Gales in the past couple years thanks to his collaboration with dUg Pinnick, but this live clip popped up in my Facebook feed yesterday, and … dayum.

Samantha is badass. She's got grit. Interestingly, her bass player lives in Austin and has been playing in our band. He's fucking incredible. In fact I would say he is the best soloist in the band and he's a damn bass player! Last show he used a fretless the entire gig and I didn't even notice until he wanted me to. When dude takes a bass solo the whole crowd locks onto him... That says a lot!

I love Samantha's singing, her playing is cool but nothing that stands out to me. But yeah I like her music.

Very cool about the bass player, Shea. :)
