Traveling Wilburys appreciation thread

Post by BroSlinger »

So, I didn't know about them until '07 or so. Then, I didn't think of them until a few months ago.

I never appreciated how awesome this was. On day 1, Petty went up to Bob Dylan, and he was like, "Hey pal. I don't care who you are. I'm treating you like a regular guy."

Dylan goes, "rghhhh, Are you kiddin'? blaaghh, I'm in awe of YOU guys."

End of the line is probably my favorite death song. The train going to the end of the line is just the perfect metaphor for life. The video makes me cry. Roy died before it was filmed, and they have an empty chair for him with a guitar sitting in it. Then they have a portrait of him on the wall. I want to put a picture of Roy Orbison in my guitar case so when I flip it open it for tips, it will be my tribute to Roy and the Wilburys.

Jeff Lynne has a damn good voice too, btw. Not sure who he is, though. George must have found him on the street or something.

I really love that vid & song, too. The whole Roy Orbison chair thing is perfect.

I'm a huge fan of Petty, Harrison, and Lynne. Not the biggest Dylan fan, but I do get it. Orbison was in a class all by himself. A lot of the Wilburys music gets lost on me, but it must have been MAGIC being in those rooms while those guys all worked together.

Grimes; if we're talking guilt pleasure; I am an absolute sucker for Xanadu. I have the soundtrack on album at home I think

In the spirit of staying OT; do you remember that movie Electric Dreams back in the mid to late 80s? I thought ELO did that title song as well (and I loved it at the time). Turns out it wasn't them :phone: I probably would have figured it out if I actually listened to the sound of the singer's voice :cop:

I’ve only heard “handle me with care”. I’ll have to check out the album now. I’m currently watching ELO on showtime

love it all , the legends , the respect they had and fun and timing of it all . We are lucky to have those recordings .
