Just ordered a xbox 360

Post by Snowstorm »

Just ordered a xbox 360 to get a gaming system. I've been out of gaming really since Sega Genesis was hot. I played other units after that but never really got into them. I was a big Nintendo player in my childhood and then onto Genesis. I ordered a game for the xbox 360 that has a lot of old genesis games on it   I'd like to try and get into some of the other games as they look really cool. What are some more of the basic games that are xbox games that I could get into? I basically don't like having to try and hit 10 buttons at once on the controller. I'd like to get into a role-playing game that is kind of basic. I don't know which role-playing games are good as they all look amazing and which one is a good one to start on. Any suggestions? Any other cool games to try? Thanks.

Skyrim is fun as hell and even someone who's as much of a hack with a controller as I am can play it.

You can probably pick up a used copy for not much by this time too.

TBH, its the only game I've ever played on my 360 outside of Rocksmith.
Main Guitars: Gibson SG Classic, Agile AL3100, Fender Blacktop Telecaster
Amps: ACC150 (x2), Peavey VTM120, JCM600, Peavey Bravo, Yamaha THR5
Cabs: Mesa Halfback 2x12, Peavey 1810, Randall RS125CX

How is that Rocksmith game? I was really tempted by that one.

Eh, it was ok. It didn't really hook me like I hoped it would. The tracking drove me nuts...sometimes it'd be fine, other times it would suck and since I'm not very good anyway, it'd really make things difficult. Dunno if others had that issue or if it was just me.

If you can pick it and the cable up used I'd go that route.

A friend of mine has a "Sega Classics" type thing for his 360 or PS3 (don't remember which it's on). We've tried a few things, but what we really wanted to take a crack at was Altered Beast. I used to have that years ago when I was a kid, and I remember playing it over and over and finishing the absolute shit out of it. Two of us playing this thing now... either they've cranked the difficulty, or I'm a fuckin' shitcunt at games compared to back then. :lol

We spent hours and hours across however many nights trying to finish the fucker. We managed to get right up to the final boss a few times, and once with plenty of lives left... and then he'd just utterly ruin us. WTF? I didn't even remember the last boss being that hard. :idk:

We've just given up on it. Every now and again it comes up when we're bored, "Altered Beast?"

If you are looking into RPG's check out the enchanted arms games. There are a lot of cool games on 360 that are worth checking out. You can download a lot of older console games from the Xbox live store; so it might just be worth doing that.

Ha! I always remember that game being easy too. I can't wait to play all the Golden Axe games. Hopefully the difficulty isn't stepped up on those!

Eh, that's still at least 6 months away, and you really can't beat a new in box gaming system for 200-300 depending on trim.

OP, pick up Lego Star Wars. Think that'd be just the sort of thing you're looking for.
+1 on Skyrim, anyone who's into any gaming at all will love it. It's really not terribly complicated. Though it will suck out your soul, destroy your social life, etc. etc.
I got out after about 100 hours, and there is SO much I've left undone. I really kinda want to get back into playing it.

Not an RPG at all, but get a $100 steering wheel and Forza and go drive awesome sports cars everywhere. You can race online with other people too, and that can be fun.

I wish I could afford the stable of hot rods I have in Forza.

I have a steering wheel and I can't get into it. It lacks the feedback you get from actual driving, just feels wrong to me. So I've been sticking to my controller with Forza. :(

I got a wheel that has rumble feedback, and that's enough for me to like it. As long as I can feel a little nibble that somewhat relates to traction, I'm good. I'm sure if I actually had multiple Ferraris I'd be a lot pickier.

Tuning the suspensions helps a lot, also. Some of those cars really come alive when you adjust them right.

I suspect the game hasn't been made harder, we've just become more rubbish. It all (despite the many years between) seemed quite familiar, in terms of when which enemy comes out and whatnot. But for some reason, we were getting our arses kicked. :lol

Wouldn't mind giving Golden Axe a shot too at some point.

I don't know if you ever played the Sega Saturn, or the old Sega arcade machines; but they re-released Sega Rally on on 360 and it is pretty much the same just with updated graphics.
