Best Way To Record Rhythm Track And Then Play Over Melody?

Post by Goslats »

I like to play rhythm by myself and then hear it while playing a melody to it. For example: Beatles A Day In The Life.....you know...play the rhythm acoustic and the run it through an in home sound system while playing the melody..../.~ I read the news today Oh boy!./~

I have an old Yamaha cassette recorder but it is old school and takes too much time to set up.

Any suggestions as to how to incorporate recording a background rhythm for simple easy listening is what i'm needing help with. Thanks!

If you have a computer and about $200 bucks then you should get a DAW, a simple interface, and a SM57 mic.

If you have a smartphone, use a voice- (or song-) recorder app.

If you aren't interested in recording full songs, using multi-track recording software, you can get one of these: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TrioPlus
Watch the video.
I just got one last week - it's an easy and quick way to record yourself, get a drum and bass accompaniment and jam a lead.
You plug it in to a wall socket, plug your guitar in, plug in headphones and you're in business.

That being said, recording software is way better.
