dude, Winds of Change is awesome. As an 80's baby, it hits close to home. I remember gorky park and the cold war. :star:

Not a fan of that one Gene. I was full on speed metal dude at that point. My love for flying Vs sprung almost exclusively from the Schenker family but I was more of a Blackout/LAFS type of guy when it came to commercial Scorps.

you must be like 2-4 years older than me, b/c I didn't become a metal dork until 94.

I am 45 :zomby: I am thinking that's probably ~10 years older than what I am assuming you are?

This right here! Scores were amazing!

I hate to trivialize some of these guys down to "Butt Rock" but here goes:

• Dio
• Blackie Lawless
• Paul Stanley
• Dee Snider
• Sebastian Bach (First 2 albums)
• Marq Torien
• Jason MCMasters

There were a ton of good vocalists/musicians that just happened to be in silly bands. Lawless/Stanley/Snider are some of my favorite all time voices in rock music.

THESE are the kinds of songs that make me sing "full bore" whenever they come on. No f*cks where I am at the time! LOL!

Gigi Hagenach, definitely.
I really wish Pat Benatar had the benefit of a better songwriter.
Brett Anderson of The Donnas. Not a freakishly good vocalist, but a good solid one. But she is a freakishly good front. That fucking swagger.
Udo Fucking Dirkschneider
Dave Meniketti
Jimmy Barnes

Noddy Holder. Even though it was 70s "Glam" at the time, my young ears heard headbanging when I heard Slade.

Yeah for sure but I guess I see "butt rock" as Bon jovi, Poison, Warrant, etc.

That's why I was a BIT apprehensive about the list I made.

Agreed Jer. I just disregarded the term ButtRock as it is not something I have ever or will ever use

Also; ButtRock might apply to, like; Kix and Britney Foxxxxx or whatever. I don't even know if Poison is bad enough to warrant that genre name.

Well if we have to keep tightly to genre, I always thought Mark Slaughter was a good vocalist. Didn't like the songs, but he sang some stuff that was hard to reach, and he was on pitch long before Autotune was a thing.

Chris Robertson of Blackstone Cherry is a fine vocalist from the growl and gravel camp, and he can throw out some ass-kicking leads too.

I agree, they are legendary. Lots of good songs, and sweet riffs. But that nasally vocal tone makes me not want to listen to more than a couple tunes at a time

Man, when Udo was at the height of his powers, he was just something else, wasn't he?
