Going to see Zoso tomorrow night...

Post by Prelude670 »

I've no idea what to expect, other than listening to Zep tunes.
Are these guys a full blown production? Has anyone seen them?
Yay or nay?

every vid I've seen is OK for a tribute bar band kinda thing....I've heard better zep tribuite bands tho'.

I guess the venue might add something and the ppl your partying with and all that.

You'll have to tell us how they are.

Cool, thanks. That's what I don't know, if this is a bar band,
or is this on the level of Brit Floyd, which was fantastic. Either way,
it's a cool outdoor venue and the weather is supposed to be perfect.
Their website says Germino is a sponsor of sorts. Will report back.

I think those guys are awesome. I saw them a few months ago and had a great time. They did 2 nights with full houses in a 1000 seat theatre, so I would say they are past the bar band level.

As far as production, the show looks like the 73 tour setup, which is not much of a production. Its just the 4 of them jamming on the tunes, which is how Zep did it back then. If you've seen The Song Remains The Same, that's what you'll be seeing but with songs from all the albums.

I was going to concerts back in the 70's and I think they do a great job of recreating that 70's era concert vibe... minus the pot smoke and exploding m-80's.

You'll have fun. :rawk:

maybe live they are better than their Utube vids. I don't like those....should I admit to page whore-elitism-domness?

I had a friggin blast. Easily the best "free ticket" show I've ever been too.
"Straight On" is a Heart tribute band that opened. They were good.
Maybe a little pitchy if you were looking for it, but she (blonde) had the vocal tone
down really well and no issues on range. Their lead guy was using a snax rack,
which sounded a little mushy to me, but not horrible. His playing was far better than his tone.
Dude was buttery smooth.

ZOSO just killed it. I think their drummer stole the show though. What a friggin beast.
The Germino's blasting in my face were epic as well. Tone was on point. The whole thing was killer.
They did three hours, great mix, and chest thumpingly loud.

Anyway, I tried taking pics with my potato and it sucked. A few of these shots are mine,
but I was sitting next to a pro photog, got her name, stalked her on facebook, and voila',
here's some good pics too!

I was trying to place who he reminded me of.
I think he's a dead ringer for Jeff Daniels in Dumb & Dumber, unfortunately.

Stalk might have been the wrong word to use there.
But yes, go see them if you get a chance. I won't be letting them slip by again.

Glad you enjoyed it. I saw them two (?) years ago and loved it. The drummer they had then was a straight clone of Bonham, it was kind of eerie. I think what satisfied me the most was the completeness of the songs played. Every song off the albums, no shortcuts etc.

BTW they tolerate no bullshit at their shows. We had a methed up asshole down front picking fights and the guitarist bounced him with a hand signal. Bouncer appeared out of nowhere - they pre-arrange that stuff it seems.
