This song is currently being used on a Walmart TV commercial. Haven't listened to the whole song in a long time so, I checked out YouTube.
Found this vid from the Mad Dogs & Englishmen movie. Damn... you can see that the whole band is really feeling the music... they're not just playing (except for maybe Leon haha!). Holy crap... wind up to the ending is just spectacular!
Ordered the DVD for further study.

Re: Joe Cocker - Help From My Friends
Had the pleasure of seeing Joe Cocker open for SRV around about 1990 or so. Amazing show and both bands were in top form. Had to admit though, as much as I loved SRV, Joe was better.
Here's my favorite Joe Cocker song.

And who could forget to Joe Cocker, John Belushi performance on SNL.

Re: Joe Cocker - Help From My Friends
The music must be felt, not just played. Up until I was 18 or 19, I was mechanically playing songs. Then, just for kicks, I decided to act like the real rock stars, by making faces and moving and jumping around. At first, it was goofy fun but, then the feelings took over and I became one with the guitar.
