Recorded some drums last week, take a listen

Post by _ej_ »

My band is working on a new single and we did the majority of the tracking last weekend. These are probably the best drum tones I've gotten yet. Take a listen, let me know what you think. Everything was recorded by me and there are no triggers used.

Everything was recording through my Focusrite Liquid Saffire and Octopre.

The drums are my Pearl Session Custom kit. The snare is a Gretsch 14x8 all mahogany snare. I used my Peavey VMP-2 preamp on the overheads and ART MPA II preamp on the kick and snare. The mics are listen below.

Kick: Miktek C1 outfront, Audix D6 inside
Snare: Audix i5's top and bottom
Rack Tom: Sennheiser E604
Floor Tom: Audix D4
Overheads: AKG C414s
Hihat: Shure SM7B
Room: RODE NT-5 match pair

Drum Isolated:

Full (rough) Mix:

Guitars were all mic'd using a singe SM57 and are all my Fryette Pittbull 50/cl in a Whitebox 212 loaded with Warehouse ET-65s.

Bass was an Ampeg SVT-3pro direct with a RAT outfront.
Colonel, Fryette Deathsquad

Guitars:
Endres Offset
Endres Offset Les Paul
Endres Telebird
2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded
1978 Greco ES335
Balaguer Goliath Bass

Amplification:
VHT/Fryette Pittbull 50/CL
Marshall JCM900 2500
Vox AC30
