I have PT10 - it's the only recording software that I've owned. It works well and I've been happy with it.
However, from what I understand, the new versions of PT, 12 and newer, require an annual licensing fee so, I'm not sure I will be using PT when I need to upgrade.

Sorry I can't really help because, I never used Logic but, if I were buying new software, I'd go with Logic.

My only consieration is that, if I were recording at home, and I wanted to take the data to a pro studio, almost all use PT.

Logic for me but I am about to install Studio One 3 as I got a free copy when I bought my new interface

Been a Cubase user since the SX days. Every DAW will have it's quirks and strengths, the trick is to find something that works for you that doesn't slow down your creative process.

Like Ajax said, PT is now subscription which may or may not work for you. Logic is very capable, and is fairly cheap. Cubase is known for its midi programming workflow. I've heard great things about Studio One and Reaper as well. It's been about 10 years since I played with Ableton and things have drastically changed since then.

coming from using Garageband for a couple years on and off I feel very at home on Logic. Other than seeing engineers use Pro Tools I don't have much hands on experience with it. Logic's interface is pretty easy IMO and from a song writing perspective it's great, super easy to get drums programmed and get your guitar tracked.

This.. they all can have their advantages, but most will be perfectly fine. I've been using Cubase since 1998. So, I know it pretty well, but I've worked with Logic a bunch too. Some pro Tools. At this point, they all pretty much do the same things, just different workflow and appearance.

But if I were to pick protools or Logic, I'd personally go with Logic

Yeah even I can use Logic fairly effectively.
