My friend traded a tubescreamer for this sweet homemade Leslie style cabinet off of craigslist. He got it from a local radio host.
It doesn't have the top horn like a traditional Leslie, but that's ok because it's going to be more for guitar anyways.
I'm going to rehouse it in a nicer cabinet and get rid of the stupid SS amp in there. We plugged his Blues Junior into it and bypassed the SS amp and this thing sounded AWESOME. I'll probably replace the speaker with something more guitar focused (maybe a 10" Jensen?) and cut some vent holes on the side (and make them open and closeable)
Anyone here own or use a Leslie? Tips? Tricks?
Share your thoughts please. This is the first Leslie I've ever seen up close so I'm a noob with them.

What do they use for the spinner thing on the bottom?
It's just a belt driven motor that is connected to the stewpot looking thing at the bottom on a spindle. It has two settings technically but I'll probably only wire it for one since one of the settings is REALLY slow. It takes a trained ear to even notice a difference.
He'll probably just use it "always on" powered by his Blues Junior and use an A/B/Y to switch for the effect.
Conveniently, the whole working assembly is connected to the one piece of pressboard so that will just get transferred to the new cabinet.

It'd be nice to have a pot that would control the speed...so you could run it at the speed you really wanted to.
You'd just need to make sure you had that thing balanced...you could get it rocking like a washing machine with a load of shoes.
My trash is whitest.
