Right??? I have some nice 8' monitors that are a tad too big for my actual space! I make you good deal! They came highly recommended from Loop when I bought them.

Yeah the 8" are not too much more expensive but like I posted above and the other day, my space is 10x12.5 and I think the 8" are just too big to be effective in my space. I could be wrong though. I am assuming these 6.5's will be a bit fuller than the HS5's and thus probably not require a sub

My space is really tight too. But, I MUST have HS8's!!!!

The issue with powered monitors (IMHO) is the rear connectors.
I know that you shouldn't put monitors flat against the wall (for acoustical reasons) and you can't anyway, because of the power line and speaker cables. But still, I wish monitors came with the connectors on the sides - you need at least 5" between the monitor and the wall.... rear connectors take up a lot of space and it's annoying.
The 12/15 cabinet that Mort built for me has the jacks on the side and it's a serious blessing!
I've been considering putting speaker jacks on the sides of my amps, just to save space and to make changing amps & cabs easier and faster.

I've been mixing on headphones and recently brought over a CD to a friends house, who has a sub woofer on his stereo.
I was shocked, stupefied and astonished to hear that my songs had low end! I mean, I didn't hear any of that low end when I mixed and I didn't really do much EQing.
It was pretty strange and cool at the same time, to hear that low end magically appear out of nowhere!

GC's website has white JBL LSR305 monitors for buy one, get one half off. Totals out to $225 + tax. They don't look quite as cool as the Yamahas, but I have the regular black ones and they work great.

I do. I bought mine from Sweetwater a couple Black Fridays ago. They had them for $100 each and they had pretty good ratings everywhere, so I took a chance on them. They seem pretty neutral and give a pretty honest reference. I've been pretty happy with them. I'm actually looking to pick up a second pair to hook up to my record player
