How much to design a website?

Post by Lloyd Blankfein »

What's a good website hosting company? I'd like to lock up my product name and comlany name and just have one redirect to the other.
Is godaddy good for this? I'd like to NOT have a logo at the bottom advertising (for free) to a company I already paid for use. What's the easiest way to do this?

How much would it be to design a website? I've got all my ideas ready, just need a coder. What do you think?

Obviously I could google this, but it's such an info overload that I say to hell with all the blogs by every penis with an opinion.

I trust you guys more.

Just got a godaddy account and made emails, all that and it is now hosted (if i type the web address it takes me to the page).

Now, What's the best thing to do? It says I'm currently allowed 1 page (obviously going to have to buy more)- what's the best plan for action here?!

I recommend inmotion hosting ( http://www.inmotionhosting.com ). They were very well recommended to me by a friend and fellow forumite here and I've had nothing but great experience with them. They are hosting this forum by the way. You can start with a simple plan and upgrade as you go along. I am currently on a VPS plan and moving to dedicated server within this month. But you don't even need a VPS to start with. One of their low-priced "business" shared services would be more than enough.

As for coding, it all depends of what the website is about and what kind of functionality you need. My advice would be to install a good CMS software like Joomla or WordPress, customize a template and go with it.

I am using phpbb for the forum and Joomla for the "reviews" section. Joomla is very easy to use and versatile, there are TONS Joomla of extensions/plug-ins you can download (free or paid) that wil add just about any functionality you need.
Guitars:

Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

What Billy said...Inmotion's business plans are what 7 bucks a month? I don't know, I buy 2 years worth and forget about it.

They are absolutely fantastic, customer service is top notch...The ONLY thing I don't like about the business plan is I don't have shell access...which I think you get with VPS and dedicated server...But really, that's no big deal. Unlimited space and bandwidth...for 7 bucks a month, you can't beat that.
