So I'm sixteen years old. The only time I ever decided to go hitchhiking, the first guy gets me all the way across Fresno (about 10 miles) and drops me off at the edge of Clovis. No problems.

Second guy pulls up in a Cadillac, and that song is BLASTING. Very cool! I tell him where I want to go, he says "Get in!" and we start off.
It quickly becomes obvious that this guy is wuh-wuh-wasted. He takes the first right turn into a residential district. I get nervous.

"Where are you going?"

"Oh, I'm going to see this guy first. It's on the way." Slurring.

"Naw, let me out here." My butthole contracts to max clenching.

"Abba jabba grush nob imma sloosh." :freak:

"Stop the car..." I repeat myself, then open the door and do a tuck and roll into the street and hit the ground at warp speed. Last I saw was that big ass car doing a lazy turn around the next corner, door wide open, Turn to Stone dopplering away as I ran back to the Main Drag, looking over my shoulder as I run across Clovis to get my ass home and indoors.

Never put my thumb out again. Still love that song.

...and on a related note (as if I wasn’t gonna help pollute your beauty of a thread :D )

Check Joe out when he was growing up with the fuckin' James Gang :rawk:

Not super-cool on the “big band” thing here, but an excellent performance

Same show, showing the right way to play slide and talk box - extra points for throwing a little bit of Dylan right in the middle of the song :the:

Hard to believe he still damn near nails this song after 30 years of hard mileage and harder drugs. I  the dynamics, especially how he builds to the middle part of the song when it kicks up

Sounds about right... didn't he hold on to a '59, too? Even after giving Page his #1?

I saw him only once, back in late 90s, at Soboba Casino in the San Jacinto / Hemet area. August in Hemet, SoCal isn't anything to fuck with. We're talking seriously hotter than hell.

Joe walked on the stage around 8:30, right near sunset. Grabbed the mic and said "well, I guess I know what it's like to walk on the surface of the sun now"

I thought Nobody was in LA? I'm so confused :(

Some people live in Hemet, but they have to be age 87 to apply for residency and be issued a mobile trailer that'll never mobilize. Ask Riff :D
