I worked the Cypress Hill smoke out festival in CA serving drinks in one of the vendor booths. I could clearly hear most of the concert from where my booth was even though I couldn't see.

Make no mistake, even with the newest Incubus songs, they are a legit rock band. Vocally with Brandon and whoever it is doing the harmonies I'm not sure I've ever heard a tighter vocal duo. Spot fucking on.

Dude is an excellent vocalist. Einzinger (or however) is a really creative guitarist as well. Kind of modern day take on Andy Summers/Edge/80s Lifeson approach. Love his playing.

Back in the day when I was in highschool. I particularly liked Make Yourself and Morning View. The albums after that didn't do much for me, though I had already moved on from them.

I thought they were much better after SCIENCE when they really came into their own.

I agree but I think SCIENCE is a better display of their musicality. What came after was better songwriting IMO.

SCIENCE definitely shows the Faith No More (and maybe a little Primus quirkiness?) influence and pretty much screams "LOOK AT OUR FUNK NU-METAL BAND!". A genre which (minus the "Nu" part), for the record; I absolutely love while understanding it sounds dated af.

That's why i bring up SCIENCE. A lot of people who dont like any of the popular Incubus might actually enjoy a song or two off that one. Especially if you're a 90's cat.

The first Incubus song I remember liking was on the Spawn Soundtrack. In fact that whole soundtrack was pretty badass my Freshman year.

Love incubus, but haven't listened to them in a while. They seem to get a lot of hate from people I talk to that I don't really get, except they've gotten sappier/softer in later albums. Great music from excellent musicians.

Live they are just incredible!

When they walk the fine line of sappy/soft such as the Warmth up above; it is truly beautiful to listen to imo.

SCIENCE
Morning View
Make Yourself
Enjoy Incubus

Everything after those sucked balls. SCIENCE was the most orignal sounding by far and definitely the coolest.

You can't leave out when they brought the funk though.... especially since it was, by far, the best album cover :D

I think I never gravitated towards SCIENCE because I was a huge RHCP fan and thought they funk'd better. Plus it was too all over the place and not cohesive enough for me.

I remember seeing Incubus on the Morning View tour at Austin Music Hall and it was mostly teenage girls. I've never had an easier time getting to the front of the stage. Ruiner weren't you at this show too?

Agreed with Shea on this point.

Here's some non-Incubus funk metal. Dated like I said but I dig both of these bands:
Bay Area dudes. Guitar is scooped but there is some funky stuff going on later.

Can't find the whole album from these guys (and they went stoner or grunge or some other genre I didn't dig on later albums). THIS album is amazing IMO:

A grunge tinged tune from same album that I really dug:

Their "power ballad" with killer solos:
