Totally agree with this - the "hair metal" thing seemed to come about with the glam movement, and definitely brought an end to everything that I loved at that time about metal.
Was there two eras of glam-rock? or did it just evolve thru' the 70s into the 80s and took a dump?
yeah T Rex and Bowie invented it and it was a proper title but it was used later on shitty bands like Faster pussy cat and crap that was more glam then rock even some good rock bands were called "glam" . It was a mash up of titles but some bands were more than pretty boys with hair and glam with a stupid name like for ex. Cinderella those fuckers could play and live brought the house down with serious hard rockin' blues jams .

Like Winger's Junkyard Dog
Same, and good choice.
Also, I 2nd "Uncle Tom's Cabin".
I'll throw in "Billy" and "Riot" from Blue Murder, and "Still Of The Night" from Whitesnake as well.
This thread must have happened when I was on vacation.
Best hair metal era for me, was the first 2-3 records from Dokken, Ratt and the Crue. When there was still some (microscopic as it may have been) element of "metal" in the sound. Once Poison hit and the rest of the atrocious crap that followed;
The best cheesy hair metal song was definitely a ballad. Just pick your favorite one. Hell hair metal is responsible for even teaching me what a proper ballad even sounds like (as fucked up as that sounds)
I am not a big fan of hair metal/glam bands. Even in the 80's I was always into the heavier bands. The ballads were ok I guess to pick up chicks etc.. So I guess I'd pick one of the ballads of that decade.
This one is a good one for Dan Huff's solo alone:

I think a lot of nods in here are being called "Hair Metal" because of the time frame and really should just be considered rock or general metal. Priest and Scorps are as Hair Metal as Dio is.
Man if we are talking actual hair metal I gotta go:
Firehouse: Overnight Sensation or Reach For The Sky Trixter: Heart of Steel (Yes, I am serious) RATT: Body Talk Slaughter: Mad About You Bullet Boys: Crank Me Up Pretty Boy Floyd: Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz
