Is there anything more beautiful than Flamenco guitar?

Post by jnurp »

As far as actual guitar playing goes. To me, its the pinnacle of beauty and skill. Sometimes when I see a great Flamenco player it makes me want to actually quit playing forever because I will never be able to play like them and sometimes it inspires me to at least try to figure out how to play like that.
as an example the late great PAco De Lucia. His hands just do insane shit, would need 4 hands and another 30 years to be able to do this.

Nylon classical and flamenco guitars are IMO the purest most beautiful guitar tones there are. De Lucia incorporates some jazz into his Flamenco which is why he has held up so well in the genre over the years. He kept it fresh. More traditional flamenco by guys like Juan Serrano is a bit different and more folkish, still beautiful. De Lucia is unique. :thu:

I also like the classical guitar guys like Andres Segovia and Heitor Villa Lobos a lot.

oh bro Ive been rocking friday night in san fran since the early 90's. That record is a must for any guitar player imo, it just shows what is possible on the instrument. Just amazing playing and after awhile you can tell who is playing which part, they all have a distinct style.

Absolutely.

The live album with McLaughlin, and Dimeola floored me years ago. Still does. The interaction between hands and a fine Classical/Flameno guitar is just so pure and wonderful. Never gets old. Check out some of Charo's stuff. Yes the woman with breasts. She plays 6-8 hours a day, and has for many, many years. Great post.

It always amazes me when these guys want to tell "their side of the story"

News flash: your product IS your side of the story. It tells everything we need to know.
