post some amazing high register bass runs

Post by jnurp »

Theres nothing that gives me a woody faster than when a guitarist is playing something clean or is creating atmosphere and space and the bass player does a fill or run in the high registers. It almost fills that sonic void in the track at the time, creates mystery and conclusion at the same time. That seriously gives me aural wood. Post some of the ones you guys enjoy.

This may be stylistically different from what you were thinking, but I love this song for the bass. It's all in really high register (especially for a 4 string bass in standard tuning) and the choruses in particular have cool bass runs while the guitar leaves space with big open chords.

Peace Sells is full of killer high register bass runs. Probably my favorite Ellefson moments throughout.

Love these guys. Matt always does really cool bass lines IMHO. Ever since the OpIvy days. We used to cover "Bombshell" when I played bass in that Ska band.

A lot of Tool's basslines are played higher and a lot of times when you're hearing a melody with a lot of harmonic shimmer you think it's guitar but it's bass.

So glad someone else digs Matt Freeman! I also am a fan from back to the OpIvy days. Also they have a special place in my heart because my buddy Branden, from the old Utah Valley punk scene of the late 90s, has been drumming for Rancid for almost a decade now. Their first four albums were the soundtrack of several years of our lives, so it's just beyond cool that he gets to play those songs every night on tour now.

Totally forgot about Talisman! Klller bass playing much akin to Billy Sheehan. These guys remind me of a not lame Mr. Big! I HATE Mr. Big...

Holy CRAP was that ever a rip-off of "Addicted to that Rush"

JSS does have a killer voice though. Too bad he could never find the "right" group to fit in with

Talisman are an interesting band I was just reading about them on wiki. Fredrik from Opeth was the guitarist for a long time and before him it was Jason Bieler from SAigon Kick, that was totally unexpected considering they are a swedish band. Also the bassist passed away in 2009 at a young age is quite sad and obviously the dude was super talented. JSS has such a killer voice I wish he chose better projects over the course of his career I just cant get into much of the stuff he is involved with.
