Online collab sites....thoughts?

Post by BlackWolf »

What's up, bros? Been a long time since I've been here. lol

So, I've been doing some collaborations in a site called Kompoz and I wanted to know what you guys think about these kind of sites and what other collab sites do you know. =)

I've been working on some tunes and helping around with guitar parts for some other people stuff to kind of build a portfolio in the hopes of getting some paying jobs recording/playing guitar.

So...what do you think? Yay or nay?

That definitely seems like a cool idea, especially for cities that don't have a great live music scene. If I weren't already keeping busy in 2.5 bands, I'd be doing it!

I hope it affords you some cool work opportunities, BW!

Definitely cool. I've never used that site personally but I've worked with a couple of random guys on seven string.org and I had been talking to some old buddies about doing a studio/festival only band who live halfway across the country.

I say it's a great thing the Internet even though it completely changed the game. There are lots of bands who now don't even live near each other at all who can have a legit band via Internet.

A friend of mine did a jazz collaboration with several people around the world.
Sounds like fun.

2.5 bands? How's that? What's and how does a 0.5 band works? lol

HA! Well, it's two full time bands performing regularly; one tribute and one original band mixed with random covers. However, I also recently starting jamming with an old bandmate, and the last two times I've gone over there, we've had a new guy on another instrument. So, its like a half a band - no gigs (yet), no commitment really, but it seems like its about to take off. I'm probably the one holding things back because I have no clue how I will afford time for three bands, lol.

Been a while since I played with other people. I've been on my own for about 5 or 6 years, maybe even more time than that.
