Rodrigo y Gabriela

Post by itchyfingers »

The summer of awesome concerts continues for the Fingers Family... Saw these guys for the second time at the Belly Up last night, one of my top 3 venues in town. I am always blown away by their guitar chops, but last night for some reason, I was completely floored by her right hand technique. For the first couple songs, I thought maybe they were playing to a recorded beat, or perhaps I couldn't see a conguero player onstage over the folks in front of me. Then it hit me that she's playing all these sweet chord changes while tapping the beat out with her thumb on the body of the guitar. Not sure why I never noticed before, but I was in awe. The cool thing is that I had several non-guitarist friends there and after the show we were all talking about how blown away everyone was by their energy, timing, and skills. I just thought it was rad that even casual listeners can tell that they are something special.

If you have a chance, go see them when they swing thru your town.

Man they backed out of ACL fest a couple years ago and I was totally bummed about it! She is a bad ass and totally unique with that rhythm hand!

That's awesome, I've heard they put on a killer show. I've been digging on their stuff for a while now, ever since I first heard it they had me hooked. :thu:
