I heard musicians in grunge bands mention the Melvins as influences, and some commentators griped that critics never gave them enough credit. So one morning when my cow orders were particularly annoying, I searched out all the Melvins stuff I could find on Grooveshark.com and popped in the earbuds.
After about four hours worth in no particular order, I liked the experimentation and force of it, but it didn't connect for me in the way later bands did.
I'd be interested in a list of what Melvins songs in particular people like though. My cow orkers need to be hidden by heavy music fairly often, so I'm always looking for new stuff to play.

I've only dabbled in the Melvins as lots of bands I like mention their influence. Of the little i heard some I liked some I didn't but overall I could definitely see why they are often mentioned as an influence.
