How would you go about getting your headstock painted?

I don't know shit about finishing and painting and any of that but it bothers me that my strat head stock isn't matching the body. It's like my favorite thing. How would one go about getting it done and maintain the decals, if possible?

Probably the cheapest solution. Also the easiest to do poorly.

Find a local Luthier that can show you examples of their finish work. Asked specifically to see a painted headstock, masking a headstock is really hard to do nicely.

Then see if they can match the color.

Anyone who does guitar refinishing should have no problem doing the finish and putting new decals on.

And if they are good - they can clear over the decal, making it so smooth, you can't even tell it is a decal.

it's tough to match paint , it's always best to shoot the parts all together with the same mix of paint . My go to guy for fine finish work is Pat Wilkins http://www.wilkinsguitars.com/ , and then there is that Nobody guy he is pretty good too
