Blower switch for a telecaster

Post by Drew9783 »

I've got a standard Tele that I built from parts and I'd like to add a blower switch in it. Can someone point me to a diagram? Or possibly explain how it is done? I'd like to use a switch like this to save some space:

Try this:

You need a DPDT switch though.

That's easy enough. Would this switch work?

I can't tell if it's small enough though.

Looks like it - and those switches are pretty small.

Puts the pickup straight to the jack, bypassing volume and tone.

So it's just a "No Load" switch?

Basically, if I have the tone and volume set where I want it for the rhythm pickup, I can flick the blower switch and it will bypass all of the electronics and activate the bridge pickup then send the signal straight to the output jack. This gives the tone a bit of a boost and with the switch flicked back I can go right back to the setting I was at before with the rhythm sound.

Also as an added bonus it gives me a steady stream of air to blow away leaves.

Sweet! I think I'll install it between the pots. Now I just need to order some push back wire (to match the rest of the electronics) and I'll be good.

There are also micro and sub-micro switches which are even smaller.

If you still have a Radio Shack around, they have them in stock so you could see them.

All it really is gonna do is make the bridge pickup slightly more hot because the electronics are bypassed. Not really a big deal at all but I like getting as much out of a guitar as I can :)
