New Guy from PA/NJ

Post by gt1 »

Hello everyone. I'm a Pennsylvanian from the Lehigh Valley area who currently resides in the New Jersey Bayshore area. My professional life is as a UNIX/Linux SysAdmin while my free time hobbies most relevant here revolve around electric guitar playing and the gear associated with it.

I've been playing on and off for over 20 years but regressed badly after a minor left hand injury in about my 12th year of playing caused a lot of frustration. For the last 6 months I've been forcing myself to retrain my left hand to get my chops back. Slowly but surely. I'm getting there...

What brought me here was a probably stupid question that nevertheless I can't find an answer to (which I'll post in the appropriate forum, not here ;) ). In my time here I hope to have my questions answered and maybe even help out in some spots where I might have a clue.

-Glen

Welcome to the best damn guitar forum in the world! LOL!

I have some very good buddies from back in your hometown area that are still gigging pretty regularly. Not sure how much of the rock scene you are into though.

Thanks all for welcomes!

Not much in the scene. I have some friends that were in bands back in the day in the Lehigh Valley (90's), even did slave labor for them during gigs, but not so much anymore. A good friend here in NJ is in a classic rock cover band and we (wife and I) go out to see him play when we can.

I'm not or ever was in a band. I play for my own satisfaction, mostly solitary but I have been known to go out and jam with friends in an unprofessional, ad hoc "let's get together with some beer, liquor, cigars, amps and guitars" capacity :)

I play through the Rebel 30 and Sovtek TubeMidget. The Peavey Windsor Studio off to the side I picked up dirt cheap recently to experiment with.

Right on. My buddy Jeff was in a band from Lehigh Valley called Kings Chamber. They were pretty active about that time I think.

Anyway, welcome to GAB. Check out a band called Denim And Leather out there if you get a chance to pop out for a show. Good classic Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.

Welcome to the fold brother!

I played a benefit for the March of Dimes in Coplay, PA last summer. Nice people in the Lehigh Valley!

The park had old kilns that made Portland Cement - they were built in the late 1800's...
