Weird Saffire Pro 24 problem

Post by nakedzen »

I'm using it to get two more extra channels via s/pdif for rack toms, and running it in stand-alone mode connected to the Steinberg MR816X.

Works perfectly, connects normally, records sound like it should. But thing is both inputs 1&2 are routed to both channels of output for some reason. Both record s/pdif inputs 1 and 2 get the same identical sound, play rack tom 1 and it's on track 1 and 2, play rack tom 2 and it's on tracks 1 and 2.

It's not mic bleed, the waveforms are identical on both tracks. (And we use piezo mics on the toms so there's practically no bleed to begin with).

Anyone ever ran into the same problem? I'm guessing it's some setting on the mix control software that needs to be changed? It's a pita to edit the extra toms out from the tracks by hand.

Sounds like Input 1 + 2 are being bussed as a stereo group in Mix Control? Hit the little infinity looking symbol and see if it splits the big fader into two smaller ones.

Yeah I'll have to do that when I finally get it back home from the rehearsal space. It's a total of 100km of driving back and forth to bring it home, change the settings, take it back to see if it works like it should in stand alone mode connected to the rest of the gear there, drive back home.
