I wouldn't say we're close friends but we have a lot of friends in common and used to hang out with the same crowd a few years ago before he moved to Europe. He's not an asshole at all, just someone who battles the disease known as alcoholism, aggravated by the fact that his position as a famous rock musician for all these years made it easier for him to go even deeper down that hole. But when he's sober/stable he's fine and a fun guy to chat with. Before he moved, his wife told me the idea was to keep him clean and try to restart his career in Europe, I hope he's able to achieve that, specially sobriety. That said, the video is really bad. The song is ok though, guitar sounds good. It's just really low budget and cheesy.
Chris seems like another one of those "damn, what a shame" stories. I LOVE WASP!!! Get hi OFF the mic and just playing and I think in Europe he could get something going. They eat up American rock stars. Shit, I play with James Rivera from Helstar in a band and he's got like 5 working Sabbath Judas Sabbath tributes all across Europe. Germany, England, Croatia, Greece and one of two more I believe. When Helstar has a night off, he's do SJS. Why not, you know? Make some bucks, have fun and keep on keeping on.
I am not implying James is anywhere near Chris's situation. Just making the older American metal star comparison.
Nosferatu was the only album that I ever had by Helstar. Swirling Madness is still the song that sticks in my mind from that disc. That's pretty cool that you play with him.
