So I just listened to Promised Land
From Queensryche. Holy fuck! What a great record. First I heard it in years. This one is up there with Rage For Order.

Yes.
Re: So I just listened to Promised Land
I wouldn't say it's up there with Rage For Order, but it's definitely a great album.

I only compared it to Rage, because I find it enjoyable from start to finish. I love Empire and Mindcrime, but sometimes I'll find myself skipping a handful of tracks depending on my mood.

Agreed. It became apparent when Degarmo left who was the lifeblood in that group. The stuff they put out after was utter

Yes.
Re: So I just listened to Promised Land
I'm not even that big an Empire fan. It certainly has some great stuff on there, but I'd certainly skip more tracks on that album than Promised Land, Mindcrime or Rage For Order. Rage would be my favourite, but Promised Land is definitely great. A nice dark vibe about the whole thing. And the guitar/bass mix is
-worthy.
I dunno if I'd say Promised Land was the beginning of the end. IMO it's not like Promised Land was the first step down a musical decline or anything. It was just the album they did right before it all turned to crap.

Hear in The Now Frontier? Hate that record. Sounds like late 90's radio-friendly rock. I think that's the album that DeGarmo quit after.
I've heard all of their discography. Only recent thing that I think that was any good is Mindcrime 2. Nothing like the first, but some enjoyable tracks.
All in all, they should hang it up though.

Only Queensryche I ever really liked was the EP

Was - between sets, people started ripping the seat cushions and flinging them around the arena. There were literally hundreds of these things flying around. Made our nosebleeds the best seats in the house. I'm pretty sure I heard that Metallica was banned from playing there ever again. Didn't really matter - it was the start of the Justice tour, and those guys could sell out anywhere they wanted to play.

...oh yeah, Metallica killed it when they came on. One of the greatest concerts I've ever been to.
