I am STRONGLY leaning that way, now. The more I've thought about it, the less I like the idea of trying to make an amp into something it wasn't intended to be.

Meanwhile, I still gotta get your pedal in the mail ~ will try to do that tomorrow ... apologies!

I really think the DSL is the best Marshall ever.

No, it is NOT the best sounding or the most practical and or the cheapest Marshall ever.

You will probably get a better tone out of a 800, JMP or Plexi but they're impractical for a lot of low volume situations. And something like a MG is probably more practical to use at home but not good enough for a band setting.

The DSL does it all. And they go for $500-600 used. You can't beat that, really.

Exactly this though I'd say the DSL can hang with any of em in the right hands. They're serious amps :rawk:

One of these days I will pick up a dsl 1/2 stack because they come up used for insane prices all day long. $900 for a 50 or 100 watt all tube channel switching Marshall with industry standard 1960a? Sign me the fuck up.

Then chill out and have fun, man. Obviously not all of us play 4x12's to be macho. I only use what the situation calls for. Most of the time it's a 1x12 combo or my little fender 2x12. New band is a dual half stack rig. It's all good.

The best part? I'm not good enough to own any of it and it doesn't stop me at all

No shit!? I was fucking around about the macho and compensation........you haven't given yourself time to get to know my *lackthereoff(apparently)* sense of humor.

I have a 4x12 too (which I will currently be gigging and what I took on tour). I used to gig a 2x15 AND 6x10 bass rig for cripes sake.

I was being the contrarian to your joking around. no hard feelings buddy.

Please, keep the plexi, if you get rid of it, you'll regret it. Someone mentioned an attenuator, that's the route to go. My Carvin VL-100 is ungodly loud, I use a Tom Scholz R&D Power Soak, works like a charm, allows the tone of the power tubes cooking at a volume the wife & kids can live with, highly recommend. BTW, found my Power Soak for $100 on fleabay.

Okay, I *know* I'm gonna take flack for *this* ... but running the amp wide open (even with an attenuator) will make the fx loop send overload my pedals. :cop:

Of course, I did just pick up a magic box to solve that problem with the Bonneville, though... :hmm:

Skipped most parts of this thread but couldn't you just buy the YJM? Low volume with plexi(-ish) sound, albeit pricey :idk:

^^^Lol, appreciated, my friend... but I think I'm leaning towards selling. I bought the Plex mainly because it was a great deal for a classic amp, not because it was necessarily the best choice for my current situation, y'know?

Haha it's all good. Really though, this sounds like your idol hands are going to punish you long term.

Hold it for a while and jam on the TE. In a month or so you'll be back to craving the plexi and the TE will remind you what you didn't like about it in the first place.

Don't ditch a good sounding amp out of boredom. I know, I have done it more times than I can count

I just cant trust the YJM Marshall. There's an awful lot of spaghetti going on inside there. If something were to go bad, it'd be costly to repair. Im not trying to knock modern production, but the gut shot I saw of a YJM sig Marshall looks like a nightmare waiting to happen
