Meh. I think they just tried to smoke/burn him out rather than risk more cops being killed trying to go in and get him. Obviously he decided to stay in and burn. I say good, he got what he deserved.

I don't doubt it one bit. The lapd decided that he wasn't to be taken alive and they intentionally set the cabin ablaze essentially executing him before a trial that would attract more attention to his claims of corruption. Also, not much said about the cops playing gi joe and shooting up wrong vehicles on two separate occasions.

Pretty much this.

As much as I'm for rule of law, its not always a bad thing when the bad guy dies and everyone is spared the agony of a trial. Did dude probably have some legit gripes? Most likely though I have to agree why did he wait a couple weeks before turning in his trainer if he was so worried about police brutality and why didn't his story and the dude's story line up?

Does that sort of go out the window about the time he decided killing people was the way to get his side of the story heard? Yup.

What's to cover up? The nitwit posted all his gripes in his rambling "manifesto." LAPD wasn't involved in the final showdown, it was the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department. The dude had been shooting it out for awhile with them, and there was no question of taking him peacefully. He chose his own destiny. What a hero. And yes cops shot up the wrong people. I imagine there will be some big money paid out. I don't agree with the fact that they did it, but I can understand it, given the circumstances.

Bottom line: Piece of shit who couldn't hack it as a police officer goes apeshit, kills several people over "racism" and then gets himself whacked, is a piece of shit.

The guy shot a bunch of innocent people and the cops vet all this second guessing. No wonder America is falling apart.

One thing is clear, lighting him on fire bypasses due process and it sure makes the issue go away for the LAPD.

I don't trust cops and nor do I condone going on a killing rampage to draw attention to the injustice of the LAPD, but it would go a long way toward healing the damage that LAPD has done to its own reputation to not light someone they don't like on fire.

So we should just blindly trust the government, never question, never second guess.

The stupidity does boggle the mind, doesn't it?

The guy runs around killing innocent strangers. Then holes up in a building firing pot shots at cops killing and wounding a few.
The cops throw in flammable "tear gas" that conveniently sets the place on fire to get the guy to surrender.
He shoots himself instead of surrendering.

CONSPIRACY!

All of the above?

Either way, was he not entitled to due process? I get the emotional responses that the ones he killed did not receive the benefit of due process either, but as the saying goes, two wrongs don't make a right?

Worse yet, he got blackballed by the LAPD as have hundreds of other former LAPD. He basically filed a complaint about another cop because of the way that cop treated a civilian a few weeks after the event. It was different than on his initial report so they decided to open an investigation on him instead of looking into his complaint. Fucked up if you ask me.

Again, no one is making any excuses for his behavior.

Just a question: he has killed cops, said he will go down shooting and has holed himself up in a cabin shooting at cops.

how do you handle that?

Are going to walk up and kindly ask him to get in the back of that car?

You act like they just set fire on peoples houses who they don't like. Also due process is gone when you are firing at cops, they have every right to defend themselves and take action at that point.

That kind of over simplifies things though...whatever.

Here is a better version of what you just said:

"The guy runs around hunting only cops and people related to cops to exact a revenge specifically related to LAPD. Then holes himself up in a building, surrounded by the same cops he has been hunting (technically Riverside Co, not LAPD). Yes, he kills one and wounds another. Cops through in "flammable" tear gas that doesn't light on fire under normal uses 999 times out of 1000 but does this time knowing full well that incapacitating him is all that is required. The place sets on fire through means that no one really understands (and likely will never be investigated). He shoots himself rather than burn to death since he isn't going to surrender for whatever reason."

What is convenient is that he was an insider, going after other insiders. Since he didn't go away quietly and all the TV cameras were rolling, it would be better just to light him on fire so the cops can get a shot at shooting him as he runs out of the cabin. Fortunately, he wasn't going to give them that satisfaction and killed himself.

He destroyed his own credibility in the first place by killing anyone, but...you clearly don't know what kind of cartel LAPD is.

I am pretty sure tha people have just waited it out you know. Let him starve? Seems to work for lots of agencies.

This just looks a lot like Waco (as Distort6 said) if you ask me.
