So Foo Fighters....

Post by Orbis_Ignis »

New album is out. What's everybody's thoughts?

It grows on me the more I listen. Whereas, the last few albums drew me in immediately.

Growing on me as well. I think the songs make a lot more sense after you watch the corresponding episodes of the show on HBO. It really shows how the cities tie in, even if it's mainly lyrics and thoughts and not as much musically.

I loved Wasting Light, we'll see how this ages for me. It doesn't have immediate hits but I don't think it has to.

I will say the closing track is exactly what I hoped it would be after hearing how it starts. Great way to end it.

I don't have much to say about the album cause I haven't heard it. I just think Dave is awesome and needs to keep being awesome.

I don't get Foo Fighters. I am not even going to say they're not a good band, because they actually are. But I just don't get their music.

Grohl is a good guy though and deserves all the success he achieved.

Have been a huge fan of the Foos since that first moment hearing Monkey Wrench... Really liked last album. This one taking longer to grow on me, but I totally dig Feast & Famine.

I love Grohl's style. It's RnR, baby. No but seriously I like his voice, the hooks in the songs are great, and it's like one of the only rock acts on the radio (although I never listen to the radio). Other than that I'm not sure.

I'm kinda with Billy. I don't get them. I mean, I get why someone would make music like that, as there's obviously an appeal, it just doesn't do a thing for me. And while I think Grohl is mostly a decent dude, he can get really preachy on certain subjects.

Musically, they're background noise to me. Not annoying, but nothing that grabs me at all.

This. Its just far too poppy for me. It doesn't sound dishonest, but it also doesn't have any grit. I much prefer him behind the kit and I really liked Them Crooked Vultures.

This.

I really only like 1 song (Monkey Wrench) but I'm not denying the talent.

I like Walking After You and their cover of Down In The Park. Everything else they've ever done makes me want to change the channel. Their version of Baker Street is the only one that pisses me off. I have been enjoying Sonic Highways though. Dave is doing a really good job.

Same. I like a few of their songs and Dave a talented guy for sure but... Foo Fighters are just not really my thing.

Friday night's Sonic Highways episode (LA / Palm Desert) was pretty cool. Great song, and Joe Walsh is still a total badass.

Kinda seems like generic radio rock to me. And this is coming from a person who even enjoys a little generic radio rock. Still no appeal.

Color and the Shape along with Wasting Light are mighty excellent albums. Hey, Johnny Park! is probably my favorite of theirs:

I actually had no idea they had a new album until I opened this thread. I guess I'll have to check it out.

I've never owned a single Foo Fighters album, yet I've always really liked everything I've heard from them.

Not sure what the deal is

That dude is a complete ass. What makes him an expert on what's real and what's not? Some people are just so self righteous (and about stupid stuff). The author is lame.

everlong was the only exceptional song they ever made.
i liked the "all my life ive been looking for something..." one and the pretender one so so.

EVERYTHING else is highly polished mediocrity in my response to it. but i cant actually fault any of it for anything.

Loving the tv series. And when I saw them in 95 playing to 25,000 people in a 5'000 capacity tent at the reading festival it was amazing. It was so hot with all the people it was raining sweat were it was rising and driving of the roof of the tent.
Amazing.
